Shelby's First Race Car at Auction

This is about as rare is it gets: Carroll Shelby's first race car, a 1949 MG TC, will be sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction in October in Las Vegas.
The dark-green British sports car is credited by Shelby as helping to launch his legendary career. He drove it to victories in his first two races on back-to-back days in 1952 in Norman, Okla.
"Because it was early in my career I still had a lot to learn, but knew how to go fast," Shelby said in a statement. "This MG changed my life because from that point forward, I knew that I wanted to be involved with racing and sport cars."
Shelby borrowed the TC from a friend in Dallas for the race. It has the original 1250cc four-cylinder engine, which is paired with a four-speed transmission. It's been tuned to now make 100 hp and is said to be race-ready.
The buyer also gets the car's Sports Car Club of America log book, and the original fenders, bonnet and mechanical parts that were removed from the TC when it was outfitted for racing.
The car has been part of the Syd Silverman collection for the past 20 years. It's been a frequent favorite on the vintage race circuit--where auction officials say it should stay.
"It would be quite a thrill to drive this beautiful sports car in a vintage race, knowing that Carroll crossed his first finish line behind the same wheel," Barrett-Jackson president Steve Davis said in a statement.
The TC will be sold at no reserve at the event, Barrett-Jackson's first in Las Vegas and the base of Shelby Automobiles. Part of the money from the sale will go to charity.

Well is it Shelby selling it, or another owner? If it's someone else, it would be nice for someone new to make a buck off his name.
