C'mon BM, now THAT is something you should chop. Your Australian and love the classic Aussie Falcons as I do, so I know you can appreciate the Road Warrior approach I am going to suggest. 
Give it a bug catcher sitting on top of an old-fashioned 6-71 or 12-71 blower, some retro mag wheels, and a 7.62 mm mini-gun on the roof and you are all there my man. Fords new urban assault vehicle.
Of course you need to give it appropriate "battle damage" and a driver with a mohawk who looks like a refugee from a leather bar to be strictly faithful to the concept.
BTW, what kind of drug induced stooper was required to cause that to filter all the way through top show status? Sometimes I worry about the guys in Ford's development studios.

I think Ford should build it, throw in some nice bhp/0to60 numbers and keep as much of that 'bank vault/Ford tough' look as possible

I've seen it in person...it seems to be about the same length and width as a Mini, but seems almost as tall as the Scion xB ...
Its based on the Fiesta-platform (which is the same size as a Mini)
Heres the specs...
I-4 DOHC 4-Valve 2.0L Diesel engine, producing 134 bhp and 236 lb-ft
Front Wheel Drive
5-Speed Manual
:edit: Actually, thinking about it...it is about a 1/3 longer than the Mini, but still a bit shorter than the Scion xB
