Retired schoolteacher wants to kill the Dream Cruise
I say post away. I always forget the site, and never really check it. Oh, and on the lady on stopping the cruise. She needs to move to Florida and leave everyone alone!
No offense here but do you think you can chill out on the direct linking of every article posted at autoblog? I know where the site is if I need to read this stuff.
Not a bad an idea. While clearly no one has the right to stop cruise participants, we as Americans need to make sacrifices in order to slow enviro-destruction and wean our nation off foreign oil. As car enthusiasts we too should do our part.
First off, I gotta say linking to autoblog articles is sweet. I like the articles they put up, they cover just about everything of interest to me. And linking them here gives an opportunity for such better discussion than goes on at the actual Autoblog comments section.
Y'all know i'm a tree hugger at heart, but I gotta say this is a little lame. Yeah, they're old cars with often huge, and i'm sure very dirty engines and they're all cruising real slow... i wouldn't wanna be stuck in the middle of all that exhaust. But really, compared to what goes on every day in every major city, its a drop in the bucket. I don't usually like the whole drop in the bucket thing, i think every drop usually counts. But I think its important to make exception to that for the little special things such as paying tribute to classic cars.
They don't run very often. Lets make our every day cars as efficient as possible so we don't have to feel as guilty about enjoying our awesome classics for those few special occasions.

I am essentially in favor of everything to help the environment except when it comes to cars.
Go Nuclear! That and I could live with something like alchohol as a fuel (as long as they could get the price way down since alky cars burn fuel like crazy and in turn increase fuel consumption).
with the linking:
It does get a little aggrivating when you see a new topic but open to find only a link. I don't mind there being a link but a brief summary or clip of the article would help out alot.
with the lady:
just have someone escort her home and keep her there till the cruise is over.

I have to disagree with this lady. I consider myself environmentally conscience and do work for an environmental consulting company (and yes, I do drive a V8 GT). These cars are not driven on a regular basis (I bet most are under 3k a year) and they are part of our history. She should, instead, really be protesting our government officials who have loosened EPA restrictions on clean air and water by letting big corporations "regulate" their own polution.
well edson....right now...15 threads on the first page of this area were started by you..I'm not complaing....just making an observation.
