Redesigned GTO On The Way...

why? No offense to Doug, because that's great chop work, but that car is *still* a boring, Cavalier-esque failure waiting to happen. At least the sketch a few posts above shows some personality, the current Monaro/GTO is just purely bland and uninteresting. As long as the basic shape stays as it is, it will remain so, no matter how many swoops and scoops you give it.

Its like a half hiney attempt at a MUSTANG - look at the spoiler, the wheels, the front of the car.....
Run, GM, run!! Maybe you can catch up!!

I see a lot of similarities with the Mustang. That body line that goes all the way back which goes under the front wheel fender. The front wheel fender and rear wheel fender stick out exactly like the mustang and are connected by a strip of panel that sticks out, which is similar to the panel on the mustang. And it has a very fastback-ish look.
We're not alone on thinking this way either. MotorTrend said it looked like a Mustang also

What the heck is this thing supposed to be? Cause surely it's not a GTO.
Eh. At least it only has two doors. They are moving in the right direction.

The fenders resemble something more of an RX-8 than a Mustang. Flared fenders are not a new concept. Roofline is nothing new. The remainder of supposed similarities are not unique to the Mustang at all.

I saw Motor Trend call it a "Mustang Fighter" but didn't see where they said it resembled one. Got a link?

Edit: I swear reading the Motor Trend with the New "Bullitt" Mustang on the cover when I took my Brother to the dentist, and reading that it looked similar to the Mustang... Something along the lines of "if you can't beat'em, join'em" kinda thing. I Just asked my brother and he remembers that article also. Online they seemed to change it.

Well,
It is not hard to see why GM is losing so much money with ideas like this one....

CARBON COPY
"The 2008 Pontiac GTO is just a redesigned Mustang ("Trends"). The character lines on the side are reverse of the Mustang's. Take out the center pillar, put in more glass. Wrap the taillights around the quarter, and add a different spoiler. And the same for the nose of the car. If you can't beat the best, you might as well copy it."
[and this is my 500th post, if I wasn't cool I'd be a Mach 1
]
That autoweek picture looks like a bad photoshop.
I am curious as to if GM can make something worthy of the GTO name. While the driveline and interior are impressive, I personally don't like the looks of the exterior.
