Question on Pontiac Grand Prix GXP

OK, so it has the same V8 motor as the Monte Carlo. Looks like it only comes with an Automatic? Is this so? And... what is the 0-60 for this car?

I'm asking because some yutz tried to flex on me this morning on the way to work. I just laughed it off. What I did not know is that Pontiac dropped the V8 into this car, too. (I saw the V8 badging on the back right corner).

The car has got to weigh 400-500 pounds more than the S197, no? Anybody had the opportunity to run one?

The Pontiac website says the GXP has a 5-speed auto with paddle shifters, and it has a curb weight of 3600 pounds. The motor is a 5.3l V8 making 303 hp and 323 ft. lbs. of torque.

I'd be more impressed with the car if it was RWD. MT tested an '05 model 0-60 at 6.0 seconds. 1/4 mile times were 14.3.

The car isnt as heavy as you think. I believe its 3600-3650 lbs. Still, given that its an automatic and weighs more than a Mustang, I dont think you'd have any problems with it. Its basically the same powertrain as in the Monte Carlo SS (non-supercharged) and Malibu SS.

The Grand Prix GXP has the same drivetrain essentially as the Monte Carlo SS and Impala SS. It is a 5.3L FWD engine with a 4-speed auto.

They have the same HP the 'stangs essentially, coupled with the auto slushbox and extra weight you should have no trouble beating one in a drag race at the track.

LOL, I hear ya. I don't street race. Especially in morning rush hour traffic. The guy had the blue tooth earpiece on and everything. Just didn't want him to contact the Borg and give away my position... (in front of his sorry butt).

That car has zero style...
