My Fiancee purchased a Dark Shadow Gray 500 Limited last week. It is a rerally nice car. She is very happy . .. which makes me happy.

The only options the car doesn't have are AWD/CVT, and Side Curtain Airbags. Drives great! Yes, it could use an extra 50hp, but other than that it is great. (We looked at the S40, Mazda 6, and Mercury Mariner before the 500, and after seeing and driving the 500 my Fiancee chose it. The price tag helped quite a bit too.)

I know some don't like the car . . but thought I'd share nontheless.

I think its a cool car. I'd love to know how much the CVT improves performance. You should go test drive one some time just to compare. I was hoping the 6-speed would compensate somewhat for the lack of power as well, but i guess not enough.

Its probably a good thing, but has anyone else noticed that Ford totally ripped off the c-class tail lights. Maybe it was intentional, association with a luxury brand or something.

Actually, reminds me of the Ford Mondeo (over in Europe)... completely different cars, but they look similar...

Nice car, Jason. But I have to ask since I sell Mercurys, did she ever consider the Montego? If not, why? Just curious. We at work are trying to figure out why they don't sell as well as the 500. We have HID headlights and LED taillights. By the way, drive a CVT AWD, it's an experience. You never feel the car change gears.

We (she) looked at the Montego when we were at the Dealer looking at the Mercury Mariner. She like the styling better on the 500, and my (family) sales guy works at a Ford dealership that doesn’t have a Lincoln/Mercury cousin. It’s funny, she likes the Mariner better than the Escape, but like the 500 better than the Montego. That being said the LM dealerships (2 we looked at) only had 3-4 Montego, and all had gold/tan color. Also the LM dealerships are crap here in Cincinnati, the customer service was much better at the Ford dealership, but that could be attributed to the working relationship we already have with them. Once she saw the Limited DSG 500 she was sold. No changing her mind.

I wanted to drive the CVT/AWD, but didn’t get a chance too. I hope to drive one in the future. Also she wanted a limited, but the AWD/CVT pushed the price a little higher, and she like the FWD so no need for AWD/CVT. And that being said . . if she had the money she’d have an Aviator sitting in the driveway, and not the 500.

We can't keep Mariners in stock and only have 3 Montego's ourselves.

Shameless plug - If you know anyone looking for a leftover '04 Lincoln let me know, we're offering up to $12K off.

Nice ride Jason, I remember you telling me that you had test driven one.

As for the rear lights, I commented a while back that the light were the same as the Mondeo's, especially as the bottom of the boot lid sits below the level of the lights on both cars.

I am on the lookout for a new car for Alex at the moment, at the moment we are torn between a Focus estate (Station Wagon) or an Audi A4 Avant

I really like the new focus that you guys got across the pond. i don't get why they didn't make our version as nice as that, C1 platform and much cooler styling.

Ford is developing a new, 3.5l V-6. It should have at least 250 hp.
