Poor 300!

From Autoextremist.com
Well, that didn't take long. Spotted last week at a suburban Detroit Chrysler dealership is this lovely new 300, complete with a faux convertible "hat" -- and in the striking color combination of cream and burgundy, no less.
Best of all, it appears to be their "display" model for all the world to see, as it has remained front and center at the dealership for nearly a week now. Here's a vehicle that's hotter than hot, a vehicle that's actually attracting Mercedes, BMW and Lexus owners - and making a whole bunch of people new to the brand take a good, long look at Chrysler and wonder if they're on the verge of not just a turnaround but a real revolution in American car design. And dealers are outfitting them like this?!?! This isn't just another Chrysler, a new model to be gorped up because it's some dealer's idea of taste and class. Sure, there's probably a buyer for a vehicle like this, but that's not the point. This goes way beyond two steps forward/three steps back. This destroys everything the brand is trying to do to position itself as the new Chrysler, the new Detroit - you name it. When you've got dealers who refuse to acknowledge that times have changed (or who don't understand), then no matter what products you bring out, your brand will remain engulfed in bad baggage and negative imagery. And if we were designers out in Auburn Hills, right about now, we'd be wondering why we even bother to try and do something new and bold and revolutionary - only to see it end up like this. It's really depressing, and it's just plain unacceptable.

I like it. No idea what there is to get so bent out of shape about.

I don't see many (or any) BMWs, Audis, Jags, or Merecedes with faux cloth tops.
But to each his own.
I thought that was a dealer installed travesty, not an officially sanctioned DC travesty.

I will be buying their grill kit if we buy a 300.
Has the same problem my mom's cabriolet roof had on her 85 back in the day. Look at the doors. Definite line there. Any illusion of a vert top flies right out the window when half the roof is stuck on the door.
It's damned ugly with that cream colour, but the silver one isn't all that bad. Sure, it doesn't look like a real vert, but it does have some classy aspects to it. The main problem, to me, is that with the black top, it accentuates the low roof line to the point where it just looks like the rest of the body is a thick brick. At least with the body coloured roof it looks more like a chopped top that was meant to be there.
at first sight i thought it was a vert, but then it hit me: a four door vert? WTF? geez, thats proof that no car is safe from crappy design mistakes... its eventually gone start peeling and then its gonna look even more crappy. the C in this 300C must stand for crapmobile.
