The more I see of the 500, the more I like. Can't wait to test drive one this fall.
I could be wrong, but I think the Taurus has it's own chassis, and shares it's chassis with no other car. The Aussie Falcon also has it's own chassis (RWD), but it dates back to the late 60's or 70's. Burningman could probably provide greater insight.

Awesome, these guys were from Illinois...check the plates... lots of MFR plates by where I live, but their all GM and Toyota...gotta get up by the Chicago plant sometime...
The 500 is pretty interesting, but definitely not my first choice for a ride, that Lincoln clone of the F-150 is cool though, even if it is basically a grille and a cool color...
Edit: Looking at the pics of the Mondeo and 500, it seems that they are very similiar, notice the lines of the doors, the roof line, even the way the trunk dips below the taillights...gotta be the same chassis.

eh bad news folks
I could only get 2 pics of the freestyle....they moved the car to salary parking so I couldn't get in. The images are from right before the they moved them.

I saw a Freestyle at the Taste of Chicago. I got pics, but they are mainly of the Stang, so you don't get a good judment on the size of the Freestyle as it is way in the background...anywho, I would say the Freestyle is the same ride height of the 500, with a cabin thats about 6 inches taller...so, pretty much a big station wagon...
