I got 21 Pictures of the 500.....tomorrow I'll get more and a lot of pictures of the Freestyle.
I live on 22 Mile practically and there is a Viseton plant my dad works at on 23 mile. When driving home I spotted the 500 in all of it glory in front of the building. So I got home found my dads digital and took it back to the plant.
It was black and had awd. Black leather interior.
I took a couple comparison shots compared to my Lincoln (Panther)
The Freestyle was there but just breifly. I had a discussion with this black dude named Niel i think it was.
Me: So is this the new free style?
Niel: Yes
Me: How do you like it?
Niel: I prefer the 500. This car is kinda like a luxury like car its not as sporty as the 500. Its basically a wagon.
Me: Ok....umm aside from the freestyle can you tell about maybe future ford products specifically lincoln/mercury?
Niel: No not really...
Me: Ah come man I'm a Lincoln lover and my dad works at for you guys..come on let me in on just a few a little secrets.
Niel: (laughs) I would kid but I'd have to kill you...but I will tell you this...the future of Lincoln looks really bright....the new cars coming out they are really nice.
Me: Oh ok fine...well ok but I can tell just some of my opinions?
Niel: Sure
Me: Well I think you dropped the ball with the Continental concept. I mean had you produced it you would've given Lincoln a huge step in the right direction.
Niel: You think so?
Me: Ya!!!! It had suicide doors and was loaded to the teeth with gizmos and power and stuff. The styling was off the wall! Do you guys have any say in what Ford should make?
Niel: Yes we have some say but thats it mostly up to marketing and design.
Me: Well I think you guys need something to compete with the 300C. I mean the panther line up is great but its underpowered in most respects and lacks style. I mean I'd kill to have Town Car but the 300C I have to admit is a nice car.
Niel: You like the 300C?
Me: Yeah...its nice, got a good engine, and has style. I mean the Continental concept would've killed this thing had it been produced.
Niel: Well maybe.
Me: Well with the Lincoln Mark LT I think you guys should seriously reconsider its design.
Niel: Oh? Whats wrong with it?
Me: Well it looks like a thinly diguised F-150.
Niel: Yeah I kinda agree....Anyways kid I got to go. I need to take this puppy (freestyle) down to get it washed and head back to chicago.
Me: Alright....well have I'll see you later then and thats a nice car you got there. Oh and tell some of the higher ups to reconsider the Continental concept.
Niel: Ok I will and thanks.
Me: Bye
Niel: Bye
Then I took the pictures......then a fat little Milton type character came out of the building as the other guy was leaving and saw me taking pictures. Didn't catch his name.
Dude: Get enough pictures of the numbers and codes on the car yet? (laughing)
Me: Yeah. Thats a nice car you got there.
Dude: Yeah its really nice to drive.
Me: How does it compare with the Taurus?
Dude: Well its faster especially off the line. Its really peppy with 200 hp. I mean you hear about the 300C with you know like 300 hp but this car is fast and gets close to 28 miles a gallon.
Me: Thats pretty good for such a large car.
Dude: Yeah it is. My problem is that the steering is too senstive a small jiggle results in the car turning sharply. I prefer the Freestyle.
Me: In comparision to my car mine isn't very responsive to steering wheel movement.
Dude: (Laughs)
Me: Hows the sound system?
Dude: I'm not much into music I'm a learn how to do while driving cassette type guy and I also listen to AM radio. But so far its good enough for me.
Me: So do you like this car?
Dude: Its a really nice car. But kid for you go buy the new mustang.
Me: Wha?
Dude: Yeah that thing is incredibly fast and I just love the sportiness of it. Trust me kid you need to get one!
Then I dicuss what college classes to take for engineering and I discuss the Lincoln future.
He left and I followed him because he was taking the route towards my house.
