its got some power: 3.5 V6 280hp and 260trq!

and the interior is looking classy.
the exterior is pretty bad though... i dont see the resemblances you guys are talking about, except for maybe the rear lights, but not that much.

I agree for the most part. For example, the 500 has a nice looking interior but the avalon does have it beat. However, while there are relatively "loaded" 500's (all the comfort options...leather, blah, blah) for 25 grand, the Avalon will be a 35k car period. Just like all Avalons, you will never see very many of this new car.

You can't even option a 500 Limited to $30,000 on Fords site (at least, not the front-wheel drive version). I would say that gives Ford an advantage, but there are too many folks willing to pay $6,000 (based on a real-life comparison of 500 and Avalon pricetags, sadly, even then the Avalon wasn't nearly as loaded as the Ford) for a Toyota badge.

I think looks-wise this is a definite improvement over the last Avalon, which was so non-descript as to make the LeSabre seem full of personality. I wouldn't mind Toyota so much if they weren't priced so insanely (I'm looking at you too, Honda).
