GTS-

Hello and welcome! Way to make an entrance to the site.

Thanks for the pictures. (I've been known to creep around some Aussie sites! So put me down as an Aussie lover.)

I've seen a T6 (well a version of it) up here in Michigan, actually I saw it a couple times...twice at a GM plant and once or twice on woodward. I'm sure it was it cause I got out and asked the woman about. It was blue.

I love the Aussie stuff. And, for some time I, like many on this board, have hoped that rwd cars like our Mustang and Australia's Falcon could get back onto a shared platform and we could all have more rwd stuff.

I would love to have the Falcon over here as a Mercury (this drives burningman nuts!!!) as I fell it would lead Mercury into a better "near luxury/sporty sedan" segment like they should be occupying. And, I have thought on more than one occasion that the Mustang makes a very convincing argument for a revived Falcon coupe! Put both of these cars on the same platform and you can do just that.

It would not have to stop there either. The Europeans loved the Scorpio, and a car based on the Falcon only slightly redesigned to satisfy Euro tastes sshould work fantastically. How about a revived Sierra 3-door based on the chassis as well. The list goes on and on.

As for better Australian quality, I agree and then again I do not. The new Mustang's buils quality looks grea to these eyes, and the interior is outstanding. Overall, the Aussie stuff does tend to be better appointed/better built overall than what we have been getting. The Falcon makes the Taurus look like a rolling joke.

But, cars like the Mustang, and even the new F-Series go a very long way toward undoing that. I would happily pit the new pony's build quality/interior up against the Falcon, as I think both would do well.

It's amazing what Ford Australia has been able to do with the Falcon, especially the inline six, which I think goes back to the humble 250 engine from the late sixties.

But my understanding is they can never come to North America because the Falcon III platform was never designed to meet the US collision standards.

Developing a common platform for the future Crown Vic and Falcon makes alot of sense because these are the last two markets requiring a large RWD sedan. Hopefully it also means we can get some of that Falcon spirit in the US CV version!
