Good news, maybe the new Goat will actually get Pontiac on the road back to its "we build excitement" roots.
Four doors? Ugh...that better not come to pass.
Unless the rear doors were those clamshell "half doors" as seen on cars like the RX-8, which could be executed well.
Edit: There's news on this over at the Detroit Free Press as well, which claims that sales of this year's 2005 GTO have "taken off" and are up 87% over the '04. I had no idea, given that I've only ever seen one 2005 on the road.
Inside Line, an automotive Website produced by CNN.com automotive partner Edmunds.com, is reporting that the new GTO could be a four-door car with a coupe-like profile. Inside Line did not cite a source for that information.

It isnt a surprise the new GTOs are selling better since they have more horsepower and you can choose some appearence packages

I think the Corvette was the only vehicle not included. Not that the GTO wasn't offered at huge discounts prior to this promotion.

So it must be the higher HP and the new appearence options lol. Can't forget about the better advertising though
but they are so bland, i dont understand how the sales would spike. i saw a 04 gto the other day and the only reason i relized what it was is because it had a throaty exhaust note. it isnt a a muscle car, the new charger is far better.

well the 05 gto's are better looking than the 04's, especially because of the appearance packages.

keep in mind the original GTO didnt stand out that much, basically a rebadged LeMans with a big engine. same sort of thing here, rebadged Monaro, with a big engine

Doesn't matter. The GTO isn't famous for what it started as, but what it became.

Welp, this one might surprise you in a few years

The looks may be bland to some, but it's far from crap.
Great engine, great interior, great fit and finish.
Like B.J. said, sales did rise 87 percent, so GM did something right with it this year.
Although I agree with you that GM has been very very bad with their new cars (outside of the Solcstice and Sky). Bad designs, crappy to almost no ads, and late reaction to competitors.
