I just saw and read some information on the new 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse wasn,t this car not supposed to come until 2007?It has 3.8 litre v-6 which they claim puts out 263 hp the car looks a lot like a mix between a 350z, sunfire and a audi tt .Mitsubishi must be in a lot of trouble to be putting the car out into the marketplace that quickly!Let me also say that 2005 mustang gt would be my first choice like everyone else out there but i also think that with this car coming out soon that it might be easier to deal with ford dealers who don,t want to budge from MSRP.I, ve owned two mustangs and like but i would a liar if i said that would not want test drive one of those new 2006 eclipse too see how it stacked up to an awsome 2005 stang gt test drive i had last november.Maybe if this car comes out at a reasonable price it will be good for buyers looking to get a smoking deal on a 05 gt next fall the interior of that 06 eclipse looks pretty nice. Just my two cents worth i just think that a little healthy compition in the market place will keep the bar raised high in the sports car market would like to hear other peoples opinion on this machine, thanks.

I saw pics of the 06 eclipse and I was very impressed. To be honest it would be a tight competition between that and the 05 stang V6...which is the stang I would get (cant afford a GT)!

ehh, the 2006/07 Mitsubishi Eclipse does nothing for me.

Looks like a "sporty" version of a hyundai :-/ a step backwards in my opinion.

Ya know, when I see this car I can't think of anything good or bad to say about it. So I guess my reaction would be to say that it's "different". However, there's just something about it that makes me not to want to own one......if that makes sense.

It's like having the choice of getting a pot of gold or a pot full of $1 bills equaling the same amount. Which one is more exciting?

After the GS-T models w/ AWD, the Eclipse has
gone
down
hill.

Very few comments like the above will come from people that already own a mustang and have driven one for years. If you are not into history, tradition and what ford has done after a car that has been built for 42 years and an American Icon, then yes go to the rice burner. HMMMMMMMMMMMM what did that eclipse look like in '64, heck what did any Mitz look like in 64!

The new Mitsu Eclipse is based on the Galant platform...fyi.
I liked the AWD version of the past, FWD sport coupes do nothing for me. The more HP you introduce = torque steer problems.

I agree the new Eclipse is a step backward, but I think it actually looks pretty near identical to the Eclipse 2 generations ago, say about a '98.

If you got the money to dish out for a new eclipse, im pretty sure that you would easily have enough to dish out for the GT

You all are assuming Mitsus will even be offered for sale by the time this comes out. Daimler/Chrysler pulled their funding from Mitsu. They are in serious financial straights. Personally, I woudn't even consider any Mitsu model in their "teetering" financial condition. There's even a pretty strong rumor that the only vehicles they will bring to the U.S. is trucks.....

possibly but if pricing stays the same as the current eclipse shouldn't it be the same?? I dont really keep up with mitsu so I'm not certain but I would DEFINANTLY not pay more for the eclipse..i meant if it was around the same price as a 6 stang.

So, wait, you guys are telling me you wouldn't want a 1964 Mitsu Debonair?

Personally, I think the new Eclipse is a bit odd-ball looking...and I'm sure it won't offer as much fun as the Mustang, as subjective as that is...

The guy said it all in his first three sentences, about the fast and the furious styling.
