New CTS-V Undisguised

Okay, this one is super hot. In fact, IMO this is easily the best looking luxo-supercar from any of the volume high end manufacturers.

How come it makes 125 hp less than Corvette ZR-1 from the same engine?

Seems likely they retuned the engine for a better torque curve since this is a much heavier car than the ZR1 is. I'm also betting that the ZR1's mill was likely a but rough and tumble for any Caddy, so they probably lost a few more ponies in the search for greater civility.

I prefer the styling of the first gen V's... but LS9

Also, i couldnt imagine caddy sticking around 525hp. considering theyll JUST be topping what these other cars will have had for 3 or 4 years by then. My wholly uneducated guess would be that they are sandbagging and itll be closer to ZR1 output... like in the 600hp range, to stave off, or at least stick with the competitors redesigns which should be coming not long after this V hits the road.

They embraced the wedge a bit, eh? looks like the **** is 2 feet taller than the hood's leading edge. Not a huge fan of the nose, either, looks like a cubist's take on a Nissan.

It doesn't do anything for me either, and I think it looks odd with the lower grille so much larger than the upper.

I give them credit for doing RWD performance luxury cars though.

I think quad exhaust would have done wonders for this car.

A caddy I wouldn't want to be caught next to at a light . I think the power estimate is conservative. Probably set at about 4 lb's of boost for "only" 525 considering this plant has easily put out over 600 in testing.

After giving this some thought my bet says that the difference between this and the ZR1, in terms of power, has a lot to do with efforts to keep the Caddy a quieter car than the Vette and less to do with . Put simply, they probably have the CTS-V's blower breathing through a straw so it doesn't sound like four A-10's taxying down the runway when the Caddy is at full throttle.

The one in the vette is not that loud though. At least not on the inside. I watched the laguna seca vids and you hear the exhaust moreso than the blower except on takeoff. At any rate I'd want mine screaming like a raped banshee. That said I do agree though.

I prefer the XLR-V. The CTS-V doesn't do much for me.

Anyone notice the V seems to be wearing the FR500's Wheels?
