One one the guys I work with does auto cross in Nashville TN. Just called and ask what a budget build 302 would be. Wants to put it in his miata. I know this is not fox body related but it is a 302 going in a **** miata . I told him any stock block should do and if he wants to get fancy with it b303 and gt 40 heads. Still trying to understand putting a 302 in a miata cool yes but .

I checked kit prices and Monster Miata has a pretty inclusive kit for around 4k. Mantell Motorsports has a cross-member and header kit for half that price so I imagine to get it to the same level of parts using new would be around the same, then you have to throw in all the other work needed to probably get the "B" into the same shape as the Miata.

I have a guy come into my work with a V8 Miata. Actually uses a Cobra engine, no idea what kind though. All I can see is the big snake and logo, usually too busy to talk about it. He did say it was a blast to drive.
The dip in weight is nice too, especially if its under 450-500hp and in a reasonable RPM range, an old 5.0 block with its lightweight design and aluminum heads would make for a nice feathery combination, almost as light as an all aluminum LS motor.

THAT is an awesome little piece of advice, and not just for metal welding. I'm so totally building me that thing, just to have one around for when I need it.. maybe two or three.

Don't think it ever saw the road.
