I was reading in Motor Trend tonight about the Corvette Z06. This thing is ripping off 11.6 1/4 times and doing 198 top speed. Even though it's $68,000, the performance is more like something twice that price.

I have to admit, it's a serious piece of car.

They also said that they are way under-rating it. It stated they feel the engine is more like 550HP, not 505.

I have seen a dyno of the new Z06 on a corvette page.. it dynos just under 440rwhp, useing 13% drive train loss the car equaled exactly 505bhp... GM hasn't really underrated any cars since the F-bodies.

It's like saying you can make a helluva Vette for 110K (GT price). a Mustang is a mustang, a z06 is a z06 and a GT is a GT

I'm not a Vette fan whatsoever but I sure can appreciate that power. I think GM really did a great job with the power aspect between the "standard" Vette and the Z06.

I'm not crazy about the new design styling but the power is wonderful. The competition is great for us Mustang fans too. It just inspires our beloved company to build badder and badder Stangs. If you think back a decade ago there really were not any Mustangs that could compete power wise with the Vette (with the exception of some really high end ones such as the Saleen S-351's) But now we're closing fast.

Let the horsepower wars begin!! (again...)
