Motor Trend definitely disagrees with CNN about the 500. I like it. Not everybody is looking for a sports car. The camry's selling pretty well, and its not any better looking, and certainly not any faster. Ford says the 500 with 200hp and the CVT out accelerates the 300 touring with 250hp and a 4 speed. And MT had lots of praise for the 500's driving dynamics. And personally, i think the interior with that faux wood looks pretty classy for a $25K sedan. I think they should hold off judgement until it actually flops if its gonna. The other two cars definitely have succesfully flopped.

The 2005 GTO gets the Corvette's 6.0L 400-hp engine. For some reason GM can't get it through their thick skulls that you can't put a high-performance engine in an ugly car and expect it to sell. Reference Camaro/Firebird. You'd think they wouldn't learned something from that.

Camaro/firebird ugly???? Um.....nope.
Then explain to me why a car with better performance and cheaper price sold only half as many units as the Mustang. [/b][/quote]
Because it had a plastic interior with awful ergonomics. The only way you could drive the car is if you had a chyropracter(SP) around the block from you to straight out your back all the time.

The new Goat is a wonderful machine. It rides nice, has good power, lots of space, and a very nice interior. It's more upscale when compared to the Mustang and I've seen it in real life, it's a very nice car. Screw CNN Money, stupid good for nothing Washington liberals. Is the Toyota Camary or the Honda Accord exciting, hum, no.

The 500 is a wonderful vehicle that is very attractive in terms of comfort, interior, and overall refinement when compared to the competition. Name one other family car for $22,000 that has a 6 speed automatic with a 200 hp V6 and has equally as much leg room and a huge trunk! Not only that, for a few thousand more, you can have CVT with AWD. It's not a sport sedan, it's a semi-luxury family car with lots of cool options, like AWD and CVT. It's a great car that will do well for its segement. I agree with them about the Phaeton though. It's pointless considering VW owns Audi.

GM designs cars so that they offend the LEAST amount of people. GM has a lot of cars that truly clean Fords clock, one being the TrailBlazer it really wipes the floor with the Explorer.

I'm a little bit late reading this but it sure is funny. The GTO is a lame boring car no matter how much horsepower you give it. I live in a car-crazy yuppie town, and on a daily basis see hundreds of hot cars. I have seen only one GTO on the road, and another that has been sitting at the dealer for 6 months.

As a LS1 T/A Owner, and someone who has driven the 05 mustang GT, The LS-1 is still a sweet engine that it has taken ford 7 years to barely catch up with. How well the new mustang responds to mods is yet to be seen, but we all know what a little exhaust and $300 or so worth of bolt-ons do for an LS-1 F-body. as far as the GTO goes, it's unfortunate that GM can't realize that a performance car needs to look as exciting as it performs. I love all cool cars regardless of what company made them. Competition only makes things faster and better. GM needs to get on the ball, quick.

I think the GTO is a great car, I just think they would of sold better if they would of named it differently. Putting a name like that on a car, people have huge expectations, hard to fulfill those expectations. Should of stuck with the original name, the Aussie version sells very well.
Very well said.

I gotta disagree on that one. The corvette's a sleek car. You can't call a car that's still selling after 50 years a loser.

The main problem with naming any car after one that has not been made for awhile and is pretty much a legend, is that the new car must live up to that status...

The GTO and the new Dodge Charger do not. While both are really great cars with lots of power, they fail to live up to the reputation of the famous muscle car forefathers. At least with GTO, Bob Lutz will probably pull an ace out of his sleeve and get a really awesome looking, insanely powereful model in a few years. As for the Charger, well, I'm sure the sales figures will speak for themselves when it comes out. (I could be wrong, but it won't be anywhere near the success of the 300, which fulfills the requirements of being faithful to the original in both style and power.)

The Mustang does live up to its past and, perhaps, surpasses it. This will be a car, 20 years from now, everyone in my generation will look upon as a classic. The GTO and Charger will probably be relegated to the status of which Gremlins and Vista Cruisers enjoy today.

The corvette is an awesome car, very sleek and smooth with tons of power, but my only gripe about the C6 is that it looks too much like a Viper, when you look at it head on and from the side.

ummm since when did the corvette not have looks. my only gripes about it are its price, and its lack of rear seats. otherwise a great car. GTO is nice, but what GM did was like taking a really hot chick and covering her in ugly clothes that make her look bad. if they had called it anything other than the GTO im sure people would have loved it. well that and actually put on some better sheetmetal.

I don't mind corvettes. I get tired when I hear "Mustangs are like *insert common thing here* everybody has one. Sure I see a lot of stangs on the road, and most are v-6's. But come on EVERYBODY here has a vette! My aunt has a 69 stingray i believe. It hasnt been moved in years and the fiberglass is cracking. My gram also has an 85 vette which has some kind of crossfire injection. Wow i got WAY off topic!!

Well, not exactly better performance. Why would anyone pay over $30,000 for Z28 (310 hp) when for for much less you can get Mach 1 with same performance. Or why would anyone pay $34,000 for SS (320 hp) when for same price you can get SVT Cobra (390 hp).

On the top of that, neither Camaro or Firebird didn't had car that could compete with Mustang GT (with price or performance). Ford offered Mustang for anyone's price range (V6 at $18,000, GT at $24,000, Mach 1 at $29,000, and Cobra at $33,000) while Camaro and Firebird had V6 at $18,000 and then Z28 and Trans Am at $30,000.

But I have to disagree that Firebird is ugly. Especially 1998-2002 model. I love that car.

And for Camaro ... yeah, it was ugly. Only Camaro I like is 1977-1981 model.
