Can you order plates for a car you don't have yet? I live in IL and I can't seem to find info on whether or not you can do this. I'd love to reserve one if I can before I get the car. Anyone know? Thanks!

I am in Plainfield and don't belive you can order here prior to taking delivery but, I have ordered my plates for my jeep and will transfer them to my GT when it arrives.

When did you place your order?

Depends on the state. Your state's DMV website will be able to tell you.

Neal, and MustangMan311, thanks for the quick responses. I haven't ordered yet, as I am waiting until they have the bugs out and are plentiful on the lot (so I can get a respectable deal). I guess I'll have to wait and hope mine isn't taken!

You have to designate the vehicle you are putting the plates on. In other words, a vehicle you already have. You can inform them later if you want to then transfer them to the Stang. Once you have the plate, it is your plate to move from vehicle to vehicle (registering each time of course).
