Wouldn't laugh too hard though, there is a lot of untapped potential:

V8-powered Toyota GT 86 drift car undergoes testing

Sure, that's an aftermarket contrivance, but all the requisite bits and pieces are there on the parts shelves of several Japanese/Korean manufacturers to fairly readily create some genuine muscle/pony cars:

Hyundai sticking their 5.0 into the Genesis Coupe?
Nissan sticking one of their V8s into the Z Coupe?
Toyota sticking their 5.0 into the FR-S (or even one of their healthy V6s given the FR-S's light weight)?
Subaru sticking an STi motor in the BR-Z?

Not sure why Asian companies are so reticent to create such vivid performance machines, must be some corporate or social psychology at work or something.

Because outside the USA nobody really cares about V8s. Its the whole balance of the car, not who can make the biggest engine. That's why cars like Golf GTI are so well done and although they make much less power than the competition they can still keep up on the tracks.

Plus gas is so freaking expensive in Europe that majority of people don't wanna anything over 2.0L.

You must be a riot to hang out with. You can't even laugh at an obvious joke. Come on man, loosen up.

Japense Muscle Can be a good thing... (to this day it only really resides in the Z- lineage)

They've just always went about it a different way from American muscle.

Z started in 1969 with the 240z had a 2.4L I6 for 151 hp 146 ft-lbs 2350lbs
(red below)

Other examples.
