It's Official, GM is Loopy

Check this out. The new retractable hardtop G6 and G6 coupe. Now, get this. Rumour has it that the G6 vert will start at 30k! 30 thousand dollars, say it with me now.
I would doubt this, except that a "loaded" G6 sedan costs well over 28k. Keep in mind that these are both essentially fwd Grand Ams with pushrod V-6 motors. What are Lutz and the marketing guys over at GM smoking?
Good luck with that GM

C'mon everyone stop bashing GM's prices ....
You know they are just adjusting it higher so they can still make some money after the 6K+ rebates.
It looks like every other Pontiac though. A little side point: see the steering wheel. Take the hand controls off of it and that is the same steering wheel they are using in all 2006 Corvettes. Talk about part sharing gone wrong! The Gm guys are complaining about this 30K car getting the controls while the 50K car doesn't.

What's the interior going to be like, any good? That sounds similarly priced to a loaded Sebring vert, like mine. I bought mine used for 12k, but the original sticker was still in the glove box (the woman who owned it took *immaculate* care of it, and even better records heh ... every oil change receipt, each one within 50 miles of 3000 after the previous) ... sticker on it was 32k brand new, in 2000. If this G6 vert has as good a package as the Sebring, that doesn't sound too out there.
*edit* Oh ... well now I understand. $30k for this car may not be too bad. 6-speed manual, 240hp 3.9L V6, and it's a hardtop convertible, not a ragtop.

"Everybody gets a car!"
Oprah, oprah, oprah,
while you might know how to fix every other problem, you blew it that time. everyone knows giving out a pontiac will not improve anyones life.... except the pontaic dealer's

I agree the G6 is overpriced, BUT on the comment about Push Rod Engines. GM engines HAVE proven to be more reliable then Ford engines of late.
A GM engine properly maintained is bulletproof. There are MANY MANY of these engines running around with 200k+ that still run like they were new.
GM may not have the best styling, although their vehicles have proven to be more reliable then Fords.

Just in case my edit earlier got missed, it's a hardtop vert ... I would imagine that raises the price a good bit. And I still find that pricing in line with the Sebring line, which is OK if it matches the quality and package.
