Well Toyota came out with a 'new' truck with the only non-boxed frame, rivets, and no through-frame supports, its 15 years behind the 2004 F150. Front sping perches and spindles are bigger then the old truck(about the same as a last-gen Silverado, leaf springs are about the size of a Rangers. Brakes have decent diameter but are somewhat thin and the hubs are small. Most bolts and hardware is mickey mouse, all tie downs/bed bolts/and tow hooks are still laughable. Its fast because its got less metal. Motor/tranny is decent on paper. Rear end is still undersized. The only downside to an F150 is they overbuilt it without a big motor to make it more peppy, everything else is superior to Tundra's new effort-an effort they are stuck with for the next 5-7 years. Other then the motor, they basically built a 1997 Silverado 1500.

I didn't even watch the whole video. The old tundra with that test the bar would hit the floor and they would have to switch sides because it got stuck out of shape.

What do you want to bet that this "test" is a bit skewed?

Won't matter a **** when your frame folds up like a pretzel first time you go over a pothole.

That's great and all, but it's obvious Ford propaganda...as witnessed by the presenter when he refers to the F-150 frame as "our frame."

if no one else is going to show the facts then might as well be ford. I'd like toyota to do the same test on a tundra and a F150.. and i'm sure the outcome would be the same.

I think the vid mobster put up probably wasnt a good even comparison. I bet hte toyota had locking rear differential and was in 4wd. Notice on the f-150, only one tire spun, passenger rear.

Im calling BS on that one honestly.

Put two equally equiped and comparable trucks up against each other and then do it. Im not saying the Ford would win, but Im betting it would be a completely differnt outcome.

Hollywood, believe what you want, but when you put a fully boxed frame, and welded cross members on a frame (and fully through the frame), and compare it to a C-channeled frame with rivited cross members, this isn't Ford "skewing" the results, its a fact. Ford has been making frames this strong for a reason, as they know their trucks will get beat to P***!

There was even a statement on Blueovalnews.com, where a Toyota highup said, they didn't want to reinforce the frame, as it would take away from payload and other important stuff like durability. (I kid you not). Click on the link below, and go to post #16. The quote is there.

Blueovalnews.com F150 vs Tundra frame topic

I've said it from day 1, and reinforce is even more after I drove one, the "new Tundra" is a POS!!! Can't wait for the 2009 F150 to clean its clock!!!

Of course it's Ford propaganda. Why is that a problem? Toyota has been doing the same thing in their Tundra commercials where they put domestic components right next to Tundra components. The only difference is that instead of just putting them side-by-side for a visual comparison, Ford actually demonstrated the difference.

What's sad is most folk won't even notice that the F150 is less equipped than the yota. *sigh*

Um, its from a Ford training conference, I have seen those guys and those frames in person. They have all of the trucks taken apart and go over it bolt for bolt. They know if there's in issue with any part of a frame or its tooling. May as well be from the people that really know how to build them. There are other videos where they actually take brand new assembled trucks, take them apart and cut them up. Toyota tends to stay away from testing in public like this and just stick with the standard sales lines. They don't want you to see Camry's in body-in-white form.

It's not a problem, per se, but I think it's wise to understand who backed the demonstration. A demonstration by Ford would lead me to suspect bias; just as a Toyota demonstration would do the same.

I'm not a truck expert, by any means (don't drive 'em), so I will bow to those who know more about the subject than I.
