I made a post on Camaro5.com
Hey guys,
I just made a post on Camaro5.com, congratulating them about their new Camaro.
To view the post, click here: http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5239
The post is relatively short, but I hope it delivers a pretty powerful message. I asked them to come by and discuss their new cars over here on our boards. I really hope they do so, because I know a lot of us would be interested in what they have to say.
So I ask you all to please welcome them here like they have welcomed me over there.
Thanks for reading!

Why give it a single thought until they actually produce the new Camaro, if ever.
Right now there are no new Camaro owner, eh?

Before I started reading it I thought 'ohhhhhh sh******* here we go'
Good post though.
While MOST people are cool...
There will be the select few (on both sides) that bleed their colour...and will die by it.

I actually felt like I would take more flak from Mustang owners than Camaro owners haha.
There was a time I would have been excited about the new Camaro. I had three of them. I had an 83 Camaro, an 85 IROC-Z and a 89 Z28 Convertible. I also had a 1992 Firebird. The reason I bought those cars was the styling that was like a poor man's Ferrari and not like some boxy shortened Fairmont two-door sedan like the Mustang was at the time. I really liked those cars despite some material and workman ship flaws. The drivetrains were very reliable but the rattles and plastic interiors were horrible.
"Cheverlay" has always been the ones to one up the Mustang one way or another. It challenges Ford to not be complacent and up the ante to not be outdone.

While I like many cars of many makes and am not brand bias, the camaro guys do tend to exaggerate their "encounters" with mustangs on the board I read and mustang guys aren't really apriciated posting either. I don't really understand the big deal. Vette's are faster but 99% of vette owners are cool even if your rides a mustang.
As for GM one-up'ing ford, it obviously hasn't really helped either brand. Ford sells tons of mustangs regardless. It's a nameplate that is so beloved people bought them in droves even when they looked like a pinto, or the fox "tempo", all the while the fire bird and camaro looked really sporty and cool (although a bit pricier they also boasted more hp). Ford knows this, and may make some minor changes to "compete" but I doubt they will be worried of losing too many sales over the camaro or the challenger. People just love their Mustangs.
I'd be very happy to see GM, Mopar and Ford guys come together and engage in intelligent, fun conversation. But not holding my breath.

This isn't going to be a slow car, but I think the 300hp rating is going to lead a lot of people to believe this car is a good bit more powerful than it really is.
