Thumbs up

I am not making this up and I am not exagerating. I have been crashed into and crashed 20 times and I am not counting the times I have been in an accident as a passenger. I have only caused one car accident , the rest were not my fault.

I used to drive a '92 VW Beetle (Yes, a '92. They still made them in Mexico and Brazil up until last year) and that poor car took such a beating. Here is the breakdown.

17 accidents in the Beetle (1 my fault :bang: )
1 in my mom's escort
1 in a rental Neon
1 in my stang

It seems like am driving around with a big bullseye on my bumper since I have been rear ended 14 times

That's a lot of crashes. Did your beetle have tail lights, by chance? I've never been involved in an accident, though I've only been driving for like two years.

Your beetle must have been a real trooper to survive all that... Aren't their engines rear mounted as well? That had to be a beefy little car.

1. went sideways in the snow and crunched the rocker panel in a snowbank. (payed out of my pocket)

2. Bumped lightly from behind at a stoplight (scratch on bumper, asked for $20 to fix it and bought gas)

3. Someone crashed into me on the way to an exam, got into a rental, made it a bit late, I was the 2nd one to finish the exam .

Well I havent been in an accident, but my 1990 Ford Ranger was hit when it was in the school parking lot. The idiot hit the gas instead of the brakes. I got a HUGE fender bender. The damage was so imense that they offered to buy the truck from us. We accepted thei 3500 dollar offer, since the truck had messed up brake lines, the synchros on the transmission were really worn out, and rev match to 2nd was a must(or horrible grinding occured). Luckily that 3500 is going to my mustang.
So its kinda a good thing since we were gonna sell the truck for less than 3500.

we need to hang old tires all around your car like a tugboat and paint it yellow with a flashing light on top

Exactly. I went back to Torreon last year and I could not believe I used to drive there. Driving there is horrible. I have seen people drive in reverse ON THE HIGHWAY (about half a mile) in Mexico City because they missed their exit! :nono:

Brazil is kinda like that Lord...we used to take taxis down there (I didn't have a car there) and some of those drivers were pretend formula 1 racers!

I would imagine the number of Airton Senna wannabes in Brazil is very high

Cute 16 year old girl smaked into me in my fathers Ram 4x4 at a red light. She was with her mother at the time and had her learner's permit.

About $1000 worth of body work.

I was 18 at the time and would have asked her if she ever wanted to grab a coffee but obviously it wasn't the best time to do something like that.

At my age NOW. But I was 18 at the time and come to think of it, she must have been turning 17.

Hmm, lemme see....

1) Driving brand new 87 ranger, made 1 payment on it. Hiney end passes front end on wet pavement, SMACK big oak tree. Totaled.

2) 2 months later, 1 month after insurance company bought me another 87 ranger, on the way to work, traveling in left lane, 72 Impala enters from the right all the way over to left lane, take evasive action to go around her on the right, SMACK, she decided to turn right from the left lane while I was beside her.

3) 6 months later, Driving future ex-wife's car, waved at her as I passed her place of work, turned around, guy pulls out in front of me. SMACK - totaled

4) Couple of years later, driving 88 Ranger, doing 75 up I65 around Cullman, semi in front of me loses a re-tread. In slow motion it flies up into the air SMACK hits my grill guard, flops on the hood, slides up the windshield and across the roof. Had a skidmark down the middle of my truck.

5) In my 91 Ranger, 5 or so years later, state trooper makes an illegal U-turn, leaves his hiney blocking left lane traffic on a 4-lane highway. Car behind him stops, car behind that one stops. I'm approaching, he gets out of the way, they don't. SMACK! ( I learned the hard way why you have insurance. Mine had lapsed at the time, and it wasn't a law yet. Stupidest move I ever did. :bang: :bang:

6) Same 91 ranger, driving across parking lot, minding my own business, white flash out of the corner of my eye, SMACK! a guy I worked with backed into the side of the bed of my truck.

7) A year or so ago, 84 F150, sitting patiently waiting for car in front of me to make left turn, SMACK! head hits back window, I think WTF? look around, Toyota Corolla plowed in to me. She lost. :-) I drove away, she was towed away.

I think that's all of them. So that's 7 incidents in 17 (dang I'm getting old) years, and 2 were my stupidity. I guess that's not too bad. :P

Now lets talk about the acidents were I have been a passenger

Some friends and I are leaving the fair in a little Nissan truck, four of us, so two go up front and a guy and I in the back. The driver takes a curve too fast, looses control of the truck and smashes into a light pole. Off I go flying out of the truck  , tons of bruises and scratches and a broken thumb. :notnice:

Driver of a suburban is checking out a girl while another girl pulls out her parking spot. Eight, very minor, cases of whiplash for people in the suburban.

Guy driving a '97 cavalier gets bitten by the idiot bug and decides to run a series of stops signs on Halloween  :nono: After running 6 stop signs, we crash into a cutlas right on its passenger door. Thanks to the efforts of our driver we do three spins and somehow end up on the edge of a big median while the cutlas ends up on the middle of the median Driver gets lots of stiches to his forehead, front passenger bangs up his knees, girl to my left has a bunch of bruises, girl to my right gets a sprained neck, and I walk out without a scratch  The poeple in the other car weren't so lucky, driver get a compund fracture in the ankle and a couple of broken ribs, passenger has a broken collarbone and sternun (sp?), and kid in the back somehow gets a 1/2" dimater hole in her back

Bad thing is in Mexico almost no one has insuance or wears safety belts. We were wearing the belts but not the people in the other car and the idiot driver had just gotten his insurance like a week before. He also bribed his way out jail

That explains it. They drive more nuts in Mexico than we do here.

I had a nice stretch of four accidents in 18 months, two of the accidents resulted in the vehicle being totaled.

Edit: Only one out of the four was my fault.

1) I was going through an uncontroled intersection and some guy hits me in the right rear 1/4 panel and broke my back tire right off. My fault since he had the right away.
2) Was a passenger in a car turning left on a busy 4 lane in-town road, chick rear ends us so hard she left an impression of her front plate on our rear bumper.
3) I got rear ended in front of a gay bar in my '92 Ranger. Some drunk guy who ended taking off before cops showed up and a lesbian tried to pick up my wife. Bad day all around.
4) Deer plowed into my Ranger and damaged the driver's side 1/4 panel and door. I pocketed the money and never fixed the truck.
5) My brother-in-law rear ended my wife and I in our '96 Explorer. His air bag went off and we had to get a new lift gate and bumper.
6) Same Explorer got rear ended going to a Packer game. Same type of damage, same result.

That's about it. Don't want to do it again, ever.
