Holden Ute and Sports wagon to US
Ok the ute and the sports wagon might be coming to the US.
Good news as far as I'm concerned. I'd love to have an HSV ute as long as they don't mcuk up the nose like they did with the GTO.

I find it very hard to believe that they're gonna sell a ute and a station wagon when there is no market for either one. It will most likely be just a sedan.
Sorry El Camino, maybe another day.

Yeah it probably wont happen be I'd loved it if it did.
I do find it intesting that this "document" even mentions the ute and wagon and goes so far as to give them ID numbers.

I'll be fairly concerned about GM if they DO bring the ute and wagon over. How much time and money will that project absorb, when they are having to HEAP incentives on their lineup to come in second to Ford in sales.
A Ute and Wagon would be the coolest elements of their Zetas.
Sedan? Nice but predictable.
Wagon? With the 400+hp V8? Can we say poor man's Cadillac CTS-V wagon! For the family man desiring muscle car performance, GT car dynamics paired with SUV practicality. I see nothing but win here.
Ute? That would bend the needle over the limiting pin on my Cool-O-Meter. No market here for a Ute? Who knows cause there's no vehicle like it here. This would be a perfect complement to the wagon by combining muscle car performance, GT car dynamics paired with pickup utility. Even more win here!
All this presuming Americans are open-minded enough to see all this obviousness (not a given).

Remember Dodge Magnum? Didn't last very long on the market.

Anyone remember Pontiac G8 ST? It got canceled even before it went to the market.
You get no interior space, barely any bed space, no payload capacity, no towing capacity ... Take seats down in a sedan and you'll get more space than in a ute's bed.
Most of people who need bed space will buy a truck because you can still get a 4 door with plenty of space and payload and towing capacity.

You're probably right, which unfortunately probably says more about American myopia than any weaknesses in a Zeta wagon or Ute. My prediction though is that SUVs and pickups have become soooooo overplayed, i.e., zero status or style value anymore, that the market would be open to some functional counterpoints to them.
The G8s sadly couldn't have been introduced at a worse time nor been more poorly advertised, two things even its inherent awesomeness couldn't overcome.
Volvo really sort of gave up on the V70 wagon by drinking the SUV coolaid, although they still have the Crosscountry model, which is nothing but a butched up wagon.
I still contend they make far more sense for the majority of buyers of SUVs and pickup trucks than clumsy, gas swilling SUVs or clumsy, gas swilling pickups, both of which have long ago lost any lifestyle cache (SUVs as the manly man's retort to minivans and pickup trucks as some sort of anti-chic statement).
If I were GM, I would definitely have an Astroturf option for the bed of the UTE, just for the humor if nothing else.
