I was thinking about getting the TRD exhaust and a K&N CAI for my new Scion tC and I was wondering on your thoughts on how it sounds. I think it sounds pretty mean for a four-banger.

TRD Exhaust with K&N intake on a 2005 tC

Thanks for the input.

Go for it...but check to see if you need to reflash the ECU to deal with the new air/fuel mixture...

No one I've talked to has and the combination dynoed at an additional 12 hp. so that's cool.

BTW, I have wanted a Mustang for many years now, however due to crap that I've been dealt by Ford dealers on my trade-in, I was unable to get the Mustang. Since I needed a new car I checked a few places and deemed the tC the most desireable of all the sports coupes. It's only $16,500, has more features than most $30,000 cars, is a powerful little thing, and is a lot more rare than the Mustang. I still get the stares from people passing by and got a couple of waves from girls driving up to take a look. That has NEVER happened. I still plan on getting a Mustang in the future, right now it's just not feasable for me. Besides, I got the awesome Panoramic sunroof for no extra charge!

Here's a pic of one in my color.

I've got to wash it this weekend for a meet and greet in Southern Illinois. I'll try to take pics then.

I like that color man. I'm really impressed with the Scion tC, I like to think of it as the new Celica. Nice sound on that exhaust, sounds like a well-tuned sport bike, except throatier, which I think is just about perfect for a Japanese 4 banger. Nice to see you haven't turned it into a circus-wagon (Get me two bottles of NAWSSS, the big ones!).

Have you considered the dealer-installed blower? Supposed to be good for 200 hp with no other mods. Problem is that it'll run about $3,000 (I think that includes installation, and not voiding your warranty) last I checked, might be a bit on the pricey side.

Unfortunately they've delayed the blower indefinitely. Apparently they are having some problems and nobody seems to know what's going on. By next year though, it may finally be out and I may have enough money to get it. If I add anything to this car it'll be performance mods and tint. I hate the whole ricer thing and was surprised to discover (on a Scion Forum) that most Scion owners agree.

Oh and I'm gonna switch out the stock antenna mast with one from a Honda S2000. Same size base and about a foot shorter with the same reception.

That's hands down one of my favorite colors of all time. I'd love to spray a mustang in that color someday. Congrats on the purchase, BTW.

Thanks guys. I just got my replacement antenna from the Honda dealership today. Not only is it about a foot shorter, I'm now getting better reception than I was with the CB antenna that came with the car.

Oh okay, when I first saw the thread, I thought it was about the Scion shoebox or what ever its called, the coupe you have there isn't bad looking.

yah, i thought it was a shoebox too, those are dispictable, yours is ok, reminds me of the RSX, which you would be better opff with or even a SRT-4. but to yours your own, so mod it up, make it your personal vehicle, and lower it IMO its too high

Honestly, I really like the car. I just don't want to buy anything that the import tuner crowd is knee deep into. I like the wheels that come stock on that car better then almost every Mustang wheel. The color is sweet but I like their dark blue too.
