Look for a mid 90's honda, pretty dependable and great on gas. I drive a 96 honda accord 4 door 5 speed. 335k miles, 33 mpg, and doesn't use or leak a bit of oil(knock on wood).

As long as they're not automatics, Hondas are pretty reliable.

Get a 2000 Civic Si. Paint the hood primer and the rear bumper neon green. Add a spoiler w/ a minimum 3' height. Add fart can exhuast. Add imitation BBS wheels. Add underglow.

Winning.

Oh and put some empty NOS bottles in the trunk

He didn't say his budget was $10k. He said he saw Minis for $10k (there's a reason for that btw...).

If his budget was ~$22,000 (which is how much Fiesta ST costs), I doubt he would be looking at $10,000 cars.

By the way, Mini went on sale in 2001 so finding one for $10,000 is not that difficult.

an older fusion is a great, solid car.

If your budget would allow it, the new Fusions are fantastic. They're comfortable, have plenty of room, lots of gadgets (good for your long commute), and decent to great mpgs.

put the 10k into the gas tank of the gt and drive happily ever after. No need for extra ins or more maintenance, tires, oil changes, fear of break downs......

Question.. why do you need a different DD and don't just use the Mustang?

Well, it would more than double the mileage on my stang each year and I currently get ~14mpg. A DD like I described would keep my current gas costs the same, keep the miles on my stang low and I'd care far less about an accident with it.

Stay away from Chrysler. Honda is hard to beat even used. That 4cly accord is just a fantastic vehicle. The scion frs looks like a winner also. The Altima seems to be a good DD also. The Focus seems to be a better car now also.
None of these are very cool cars though. Just saying. 6cly stang could also be an option.

I had a couple 05-09 V6s, not great gas mileage and the new ones are likely out of my range right now. I like the new Focus but same deal. Don't like Altimas. I'm thinking more and more about an Accord though. Or maybe commute with the wife for a year and buy something cool then. I'm confused.
