What if the car above was not named 'GTO', what if it were named 'Tempest'. Do you think people would be more favorable to the car?

I personaly think the GTO is a decent car because I've always like the Manaro. And we all know the differences are really just cosmetic.
They should have left it as a manaro but if they had to rename it then Grand Prix would have been spot on.

I think the GTO really boils down to a huge marketing mistake.

Came across a GTO in traffic today. Couldn't tell what it was until I saw side emblem. It really blended in with the surrounding small cars. Thought it was a Honda product at first.

The biggest problem I see with the GTO is as a halo car, nobody seems to notice it.

It does look like a Honda from the back.

I agree, it doesn't stand out enough.

Wasn't the GTO from The Last Ride Black before they painted it Red after they kind of riced it?

I think the front looks better (how could it not) but still just a pumped up Grand Prix GTP two door.

I agree with Doug. It really is a nice car performance wise, but why call it a GTO and why have such bland styling?

I have been to various GM + Pontiac lots lately looking at used Vettes and every single dealer tries to put me into a GTO. They are having difficulty moving this car at sticker, much less above it. I did give the car a good look over quite a few times and have concluded that I really like it but it is just too similiar looking to the rest of Pontiac's line.

I can't wait to see the 2005 model as they (GM) try to fix this mess. Even if the car's styling gets slammed again the addition of the LS2 should make this car a winner.

To be fair, the first one didn't stand out either....... but it didn't have the 8000 lb. gorilla that is it's heritage. I hope they put some real thought in refining the looks for the next one.
