I love this response in that thread:

But this is the jesus car! It cannot have drawbacks! It does all the unpossibles! It beats ze Germans! It repeals the laws of TIME and SPACE!

(But apparently it can't get rid of the ride-along Big Brother.)

Thats ok. From what I hear they have some pretty good computer people over in Japan, and i think they know how to rape that program and get whatever they want out of it.

God, please don't let our politicians in the US read this article. Let them continue to be ignorant and not know of this, I pray.

As much as it may be fun to poke at the japanese super car, these ideas tend to infect lawmakers and designers everywhere. Think about how many things have been put into place to keep you from having fun or making a car performance car practically useless. In England there are so many speed monitoring cameras now with very low tolerances for speed you could bankrupt yourself in cars like ours. And everyday it seems that there are more and more intrusions from big brother on our personal decision making in regards to our vehicles. What a shame it will be the day they make cars that can drive themselves, because many places will require the car to drive for you, for "safety." And it will be safer...and no fun at all.

I'm not anti-government, paranoid or prone to conspiracy theory, but I don't think this is funny. It can happen here, and something like this or equally draconian probably will. At this point I'm just glad I know my Mustang doesn't have all that junk in it.

That's the party I can't believe. A f-ing grand tax every time you go to the track. Completely outrageous.
