At least they still made a profit. More than we can say about Ford.

Although on second thought, I remember hearing a few industry execs comparing GM to Ford once about a year ago. They said GM's troubles of a few years ago are basically the same as Ford's are now. They were in the same boat as Ford, they just happened to hit bottom and start coming back up before Ford. If there is any truth to that, hopefully Ford has already reached the bottom, and is on the way back up. GM did it, so can Ford.

I don't understand how the stock prices effect gain or loss of profit.

what does the stock have anything to do with sales or money they bring in or spend?

Yes you are correct, the reason I know this is due to the fact that a 2 GM properties here in Atlanta were customers of mine at a previous company. They went through a massive restructuring which reduced allot of management jobs and overhead. Believe me when I say that quite a few corner offices became empty pretty quickly.

GM's prifit did not meet budgeted expectations which scares investors. Investors are only interested in one thing, a return on their investment.

The profit loss had an impact on the stock price, not the other way around.

Wasn't there some other article that says they need to cut back on the number of brands and models they produce? Why don't they do that?
