personally I'd take a V8 Focus anyday. That car could with the right tweaks whip just about anything.

Thats the one. Uses a Cammer. As a Rally Racing Fan, I'd love to see Ford off Europe put these in teh WRC, Lets see Subaru or Citroen beat THAT!!! Though They'd probably be illegal anyway, lol.

I heard that a non-affiliated aftermarket group was gonna sell that as a conversion kit. I'm not big on illegal street racing but the thought of a normally-aspirated V8 kicking some NOs-sniffing Ricers around is fun

The conversion kit is about $15,000, I believe. It exists, it was in Road and Track in February I think.

The one I was talking about had the Supercharged cobra motor

 

that looks exactly like the one motor trend had. There's was putting out 450hp at 7000rpm. I really like the interior... anyone know if thats the stock RS interior? they really gotta bring that RS over here, i bet it would do better than the svt focus, partly cause the exterior styling is really nice.

I love sleepers, I'm all about having something up your sleeve, holding back for when you gotta let it loose. kinda like yoda in the latest star wars movie, always walking around with that cane, and then BOOM! backflips and lightsaber and everything!

If they can cram that engine into the focus, i'm sure we could fit at least two of 'em under the long hood of my parents' Grand Marquis wagon... now that would be a sleeper!

The problem with small hatches that come over from Europe is that Americans don't buy 'em.

I.E., VW R32. Why get an R32 when you can buy a TT 3.2 for about the same price?

 

I'd take a Lambo over most Fords anyday except for the 'Stang! Or the GT.

 

just bought the Motor Trend with the article in it. pretty interesting stuff. focus actually outperformed the lambo in some tests

Unfortunately, you'd be right. The WRX class can only have engines up to 2.0L if turbo'd, if just fuel injected, they are allowed 3.0L.


The maddest rally car ever made was a Metro 6R4, this thing was about the 2/3 the size of a Civic, but had a mid-mounted Rover 3.0L V6. The thing was as ugly as sin but put out 390hp in a car that weighed 2288lb (do the calcs yourself!). It wiped the floor with everything. Then a rule change on Homologation got it banned
