The GT is gonna be put through its paces on BBC2 on sunday at 8pm, i'm guessing thats not eastern time though...
too bad i don't have cable, let alone a satellite or anything.
someone watch it and tell me what happens, including videos and sound clips.
and cook me some dinner while you're at it

well... see what you can do

Seriously mate, I wouldn't know how to, and I do not own an mp3 player!

I will ask if any of my friends have the know how, (might be a little late though )

I am sure it will appear on the web, maybe the same site the AM DB9 V Train video we saw on here last week.

Sorry I could not be more help.

James

Right then, a report.......

The car used was a brand new (not a mule) in Red with White stripes. The car was n the Top Gear test track. The first sight was it accelerating off the line. The sound was awesome . Cut to inside of car. Jeremy Clarkson is driving, he first commented on the sheer acceleration, "So Astonishing, it hurts your neck, I am going to be like a giraffe after this...". He then took it to the runway and HAD IT UP TO 165mph!!! Went through the normal 550bhp 500lb/ft etc...
When driving at 130, he hardly had to raise his voice. It only barked when asked to. Jeremy was commenting on the precise steering when he put the car completely sideways while doing about 100! Basically he described the car as "Absolutely Sensational", then he ran out of gas!!

Then the professional race driver got hold of it on the track. Here is the best bit :

Mclaren Mercedes (£350k) 1 minute 20.9
Ford GT40 (£140k) 1 minute 21.9

Ferrari 360s (£150k) 1 minute 22.3

Yes, you read right THE GT40 IS QUICKER THAN A FERRARI 360 ROUND THE TRACK

Statement to finish them all "The Lamborghini Gourado is like a fine wine......The GT40 tasted like orange juice but blows your head off after two sips"..

Sorry, no actual footage, but I hope this helps

sweet jesus, thats just what i wanted to see, thanks for heads up to that sleepy fish site, that's a good site.
wow, looks like this car is really kickin but. I can't wait for the onslaught of magazine reviews and comparisons. I didn't realize that with its 'unofficial' top speed of 212mph (ford's claiming only 205), it would be faster than both the carrera GT and the SLR, and i guess the murcielago too. So that leaves only the enzo, right? as far as current production cars go. pretty crazy. And its nuts when you look at the price too.

Pretty silly about the gas consumption though... i'm sure it would only be that bad if you're tearing around a track though right?

Yeah, I'd get about the same gas mileage in my truck if I held it to the floor the whole time. The Enzo averages what? Like 9/city, 12/highway? When you pay that kinda money for a car, would you really give a crap?

i don't think you would be too concerned about the cost of the gas... you might be concerned about the non-fiscal costs, as in the costs to our environment and society...

more likely though, you'd be concerned with how far you can actually go without having to refill, i think that seems like a bit of a problem if you have to refill every two hours or so.

but like i said, if you're actually using the car to get around, which is when you actually care about how far you can go, then you won't be driving it like that jeremy guy.

Yes, thank you for the link.

That video was very cool!! Top Gear TV seems like a show that really tests the cars, and is not inundated with product placement ads. That is the first test of the GT that actually serves the car well.

Hey JGS . . .I may send you some wonderful American $$$ if you would possibly tape some shows. Let me know.

The BBC is a non-profit organisation that has it's own charter. Every household apys a license fee each year and the BBC runs 6 tv stations and about 8 radio stations using this money. They are not allowed to advertise anything, even going as far as to blur out any brandnames that might appear on their shows.
TG is an hour long program with no ad breaks at all!

Last night was New Merc CL65, skiing begind the new Jag Wagon and some nutter parachuting into a car doing 60mph!

Already programmed it for next week......
