My question is just that. Do you have to purchase a Ford GT from a dealership or is there a way that one can be aquired directly from Ford? I think that the mark up that the dealerships are asking is ridiculous and way out of reach. Any one out there able to help point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance.

The simple answer, NO. No Ford vehicles can be bought directly from Ford. They are only sold through dealers. You think the wait for a Mustang is tough, my customer may end up waiting close to a year for his GT.

Whats your markup? Are Ford dealerships the only ones allowed to sell it (NEW)? Or would some exotic car dealer might wind up with one, like Symbolic? I could probably get a better deal from Symbolic in La Jolla...they already sell the originals and kits, but we were looking for the new one. The wait doesnt matter.

The aftermarket dealers are buying them from dealers either at auction or on E-bay marking them up even more and reselling them. I heard from another dealer that they sold theirs to a broker for $225,000 and they in turn got a guy in the UK to pay $300,000. Not sure how acurrate this was, but the guy had no reason to lie to me.

Rrobello,

I moved this thread Exotics, because the GT isn't just "another Ford"

well $100,000 over MSRP is still much cheaper than any dealer out here in So Cal, the cheapest I've seen so far is $390,000. Anyone willing to sell one for a decent price?

I am amazed at the premium these cars are commanding. Beautiful car that it is, it was launched to be a contender for the Supercar crown without paying top level supercar prices for it. At $390k, you are well into Fererri territory.

Still, this is the allure of a well thought out idea!

Rrobello, if you are after one, I wish you luck (and post as many pics as you can if you get one )

Try e-bay, there are usually anywhere from 2 to 10 selling between $200 and $240K. I don't know if I would call that reasonable but it is definetly the current market price.

My dealership has a GT available for spring delivery. It can still be configured to personal spec. Feel free to contact me for more info. We are hoping to receive a reasonable margin.

If you wait a while, the prices are going to come down. Trust me. If you look on ebay there are 14 to 30 at any given time. None of these cars are going for over 225K. A year from now they will be less.

Here is one with no reserve starting at 225K and no takers.

Don't let the hype from these dealers fool you.

Hmmmm..... paying almost double or double the price of the car for exclusivity

PT Barnum was right.

Not that I cuold ever afford one, but I certainly hope something comes along that devalues the car so that it doesn't command such a hefty markup.

I've read that the next Z06 is projected to be in the 60 to 70k bracket with performance to nearly match the GT (I think the GT is besting it in top speed). I wonder if people are going to be willing to pay 6 bills on a vette because it looks like to a diehard chevy guy it would still be a smoke'n deal compared to the GT.

I assume the GT is restricted from A-Plan or Z-Plan purchase, although it's not specifically stated on the A-Plan web site (like T-Bird & RX-8 are).

It would be interesting to find out.

It isnt restricted but I dont think you'll ever find a dealer that would honor it.
