I don't think a manual tranny would sell well in this sector of the market. Less than 10% of all cars sold today have sticks, and I think in the next 10 years we may see all manual transmissions disappear to be replaced by DSG and Tiptronics or something like them.

I'll be interested to see if they hold the price on the V6 model when the Duratec 35 hits production. A 245HP V6 Fusion for around $26K would be a heckuva deal!

I'm sure SVT is planning something like that

See Zoran's post. He put a link to an article

Actually, I'm hoping the 245HP V6 will be the standard V6 and the SVT will be more potent than that!

Its possible. There will be 3.5L in the future, as long as they don't overpriced it (like they did on 1996-1999 Taurus SHO), it will be success.

From what I've read, the Duratec has lower emissions, better fuel economy, and more power than the current 3.0L. IMO, it sounds the 35 will be an eventual replacement for the 3.0L. I think it will be a gradual switchover in much the same way that the old pushrod 3.0L is being slowly phased out. Cars like 500 and Freestyle will get first followed by the Fusion/Milan/Zephyr, etc until the 3.0L disappears altogether. Another aspect of the 35 is it's ability to grow in displacement. 3.8L and 4.0L versions should be easy to create for applications like trucks and SUVs.

I am very surprised that it is priced under the Sonata. I was thinking the Sonata was gonna be the big hit this coming year, not anymore. The pricing on the new Fusion is sure to steer some people into Ford's direction

Agreed, Hyundai has raised their prices it seems. Not the best idea in my opinion. I can't wait till the Fusion hits the floors. I'll definetley be test driving one

No, it will be a four door only. Its competing in the family car market.
