The Fusion is pretty good car for what it is. If it werent for the generic rearend, then I would like it alot more.

Compared to the Camry and Accord it is pure beauty queen. Dynamically the car should be fine, the only issue is interior space for rear-seat passengers. If this car delivers here I would not be surprised to see 400,000 of these sold a year.

*ahem* XC90 using the Yamaha V8...... *evil idea* Since that uses the Haldex, use the haldex and the v8 for the SVT Fusion! muwahahah

well... they are thinking of putting that V8 in the next lincoln LS, but that's based on the P2 platform or whatever they call the 500 platform.

Wink

Wow. The way I ordered it (SEL, I4/5spd, leather, sunroof, ABS, 17" wheels/tires, etc came out to only $21,895.

The only problem is I like the looks of the Milan a little better, and it's GOOD to see a real difference in styling for a change between F/L/M products. Any and all should be fun, entertaining.

Read in AW's forums that there'll be an SVT version... 3.5L @270bhp and AWD. I think I've found my next car.

An SVT Fusion would be a good replacement for the SVT Contour. And a much better looking car!

The rumor I've heard is that they will lift the drivetrain from the Mazdaspeed6 (AWD, twin-turbo I4 making 275HP) and drop it in except that they're saying 300HP for the SVT.

Heard the rumor too. The one I mentioned comes from a guy who claims to be working on the project. I'd rather have the N/A 6, personally. I'd gladly give up 5 horses for it.

You must have missed the part in my post above about the SVT having 300HP vs. 275HP for the MS6.

...I'd.. still.. rather.. have... N/A. Either way would be cool. And yeah, I guess I did miss that part. Also, I just hope it doesn't turn into the porker the MS6 is.

What's impressive, to me, about this car is it's price fully loaded. For now (for those who don't know, the pricing isn't finalized yet) a V6 SEL with absolutely everything on it is $26,855 last time I checked. Considering what comes on the car at that price, I think it's a bargain, especially if it's dynamically similar to the Contour/Mystique. Those things may have had a laughable rear seat, but they handled well.

I can state for a fact that the Mazda6 platform on which the Fusion is based is excellent. The suspension is very well designed. However, I'm not sure how much Ford changed in regards to spring rates, etc. Let's hope they went with similar suspension tuning.
