I don't care what NHTSA said, I only care what my personal experience said. Only domestic cars I would buy in the future is something with V8 because they are good. Not another V6 (enough problems with Intrepid and soon Mustang) or even worse - not another 4-cyl (enough problems with Escort). Safety features have nothing to do with quality of engine. You can't compare Ford with Toyota because simply Toyota is waaaaaaay better. Is Taurus better than Camry? Is Focus better than Corrolla? Is Crown Victoria better than Avalon? I don't think so.
So facts, such as NHTSA data, don't matter , only your personal anecdotal evidence does?

For example, if in your view of the world, the earth was flat, that would invalidate all the other factual evidence we have that the earth is round?

You'll just blindly follow your beliefs that imports are better without considering outside facts? Then you've got the same problem as the person you were criticizing about his beliefs about domestics.

ALL cars have problems. Its just that imports are perceived by the general public to have none and domestics are perceived to have all the problems. The general public don't care to look at the facts, like NHTSA data. They just go with what "everybody" tells them.

WOW, Zoran . . .tell us how you really feel!

I'm not going to get into semantics with you over Toyota vs. Ford. You have your opinions and data, and I have mine. Which is cool. I will say I've owned 10 various Ford, Lincoln, Mercury products over tha past 14 years, and never had a problem with any of them. I have 210K miles on my Explorer . . .and have not had ANY problems with her to date.

There was a article somewhere (can't remember where) that stated a key reason some imports outshine there domestic competitors in vehicle quality (and in the public perception) is because owners of import bands are more likely to take their vehicles to the dealership for routine service. Not sure of the validty of the article, but it does make sense.

Out of those 10 FoMoCo vehicles you've owned, how many of them were 4-cyl, how many were V6 and how many were V8?
My family took same care for all 3 cars. Mustang was bought with 3,500 miles, Intrepid was bought with 30,000 and Camry was bought with 90,000 miles. So, Mustang was almost new and Camry was 9 years old and I have no clue who took care of her. On Mustang I changed oil every 3,000 miles, changed air filter every 3,000, at 15,000 miles I took it to Ford dealer for inspection (nothing wrong) and then at 20,000 miles engine just wouldn't start. Same with Intrepid. Oil changes every 3,000 miles and regular maintainance. Yet, problems started really soon.

Once you start driving you'll realize that once you buy Japanese car they will last forever. I can't say same thing about American cars. I have in the family 2 domestic cars (1997 Dodge Intrepid 3.5L and 2000 Ford Mustang 3.8L) and 1 import (1994 Toyota Camry 3.0L). Camry is waaaaaay better than both Intrepid and Mustang, even though it have more miles than Intrepid and Mustang TOGETHER.

with statements like that, why arent u on a camry forum? mustangs are much better. The problem retained to 99-01 F-150s had cruise control wiring issues which would cause the vehicle to catch fire when parked, it has been fixed. Andy knows all about Toyotas "high Qaulity"............just ask em

For the comment "Mustangs are much better then Camry", how would you know? Did you ever owned either one of them? What am I saying, you're not even old enough to drive. I have both Mustang and Camry in the family and I know which one have better quality and which one will last longer. Why do you think Toyota Camry lose less value in 3 or 4 years than Ford Taurus do in 1 or 2 years? Truth ain't pretty my friend. Do you really think that domestic cars are high quality and imports are low quality?

no, it was 99-01 it was NOT current F-150, i am not deaf nor blind, i no which trucks it was. and my uncle had a toyota camry and a Dodge startus and he beat the shi* out of both of them in NYC in daily driving, and he said the Toyota was too slow, and it had too many problems, he loved the stratus, and FORd has much higher qaulity, ever been to truck pulls? my uncle beats the **** outta his 02 Blown F-150 and it still hasnt blown up, with 9psi at 6500rpm on the stock block  without a tune

So he did had problems with Toyota Camry but did not had problems with Dodge Stratus? No way, I don't believe that. If they were same age with same miles, its impossible for Dodge to be better than Toyota. If Stratus was brand new and Camry was 15 years old with 250,000 miles, then yeah, its possible.

Well Jason, I did said that V8s are good. V6s are average, if you're lucky maybe they will last for some time, while 4-cyl is junk.

I'll let Evil_Capri answer for his vehicles but I've owned a variety of Ford vehicles over the years with 4, 6, and 8 cylinders. In comparison to the Acura I owned, the Ford's were on par and in some cases better from a mechanical standpoint. I had to take the Acura back to the dealership three times for warranty, twice were for oil leaks in the cam seals. By contrast, my Mazda (which has a Duratec V6) hasn't seen the dealership since I drove it off the lot. It now has nearly 23,000 miles and has been absolutely bullet-proof. My worst complaint about the car is that the front passenger seat rattles.

What year was that Acura?
And you just made my point with your Mazda. By the time my Mustang had that many miles I've been at dealership many times. One major problem with theft system and few smaller onec (nothing seriously).

Also, (and it's my own fault somewhat :nono: ) let's get back on topic, F-150 vs. Titan.

I have no problem starting another thread (if civil) regarding Fords vs. whomever, but let's try to get back on topic.

So he did had problems with Toyota Camry but did not had problems with Dodge Stratus? No way, I don't believe that. If they were same age with same miles, its impossible for Dodge to be better than Toyota. If Stratus was brand new and Camry was 15 years old with 250,000 miles, then yeah, its possible.

u are so ignorant, the camry actually had 60k less miles and the oil was changed on both at every 3k miles, dont try and tell me he is imagining the camry is worse.
And the Tom, Mazda is a division of Ford, u can thank them for the qaulity of your car which is A plus

Also, (and it's my own fault somewhat :nono: ) let's get back on topic, F-150 vs. Titan.

I have no problem starting another thread (if civil) regarding Fords vs. whomever, but let's try to get back on topic.
No prob boss.
I was just trying to disprove junior's theory that imports are junk.

That's cool. I understand, and agree that imports aren't 'junk', but maybe start another thread. Like I said, I'm as much to blame for getting off-topic as anyone in this thread.

It was a 2000 Acura.

How did I make your point with the Mazda? It's built in a US factory using a Ford spec engine (the same as in many, many Ford vehicles). The engine is your big headache with American cars is it not? Following your logic, my Mazda's engine should been having all kinds of problems by now.

My Mustang is a V6 and has 99,5XX daily driven miles. The only problem I've had with it was that the original equipment battery wore out and had to be replaced 2 years ago. It has had normal maintenance and wear items changed( oil changes, brake pads, filters, etc). What does that tell you?

My F150 has 52,000 miles the only problem I've had with it (annoying, but not show stopping) is the DPFE (EGR) sensor which caused the Check Engine light to go on but didn't really change the way the truck runs, which is quite well, by the way.

Yes, engine is my big problem. I don't have any problems with design, speed and so on, but I do have problems with engine quality in domestic 4-cyl and some V6 cars.
