First Peek at the Gen-V V8 From GM!

Saw this on SVTP this morning and thought I would share . . .

http://www.lsxtv.com/news/first-peak...-v-v8-from-gm/

Truth be told, we’re not much closer to finding out any solid facts on its specifications. However, thanks to GM Inside News and the Buffalo Business Journal, we were able to get a sneak peek of a completed Gen V small block at the Tonawanda engine plant.

The first thing in the photo that sticks out to us is the unusual valve cover design. There are a number of oddly shaped surfaces on the valve cover, none of which are identical. It could be said that this might have something to due with the 3-valve design, confirming earlier rumors. There’s also an addition of a large pulley under the driver’s side of the block, possibly for a dry-sump oiling system.

Evil_Capri, those valve covers look that way because GM integrated their Direct Fuel Injection within the valve cover.
Just thought you would want to know.----Bill

I wonder if it's the 5.5 liter that has been rumored for a couple years?
Wouldn't surprise me, you know in base form it's got to be more power than
the outgoing 6.2 liter LS3, meaning at least 440 hp (but probably more like 450-460) and would bet on at least 1 mpg better gas mileage, and possibly 2 mpg.

I'm thinking that once the Boss 302 drops away after 2014, Ford better make the roadrunner engine the 2015's Mustang GT engine in order to compete with this new GM V8 that will surely see it's way into the Camaro for 2014 after it debuts in the
new Corvette first.

I think I'd rather go the Boss route for power, Mustang's port injection is a much easier and user friendly system to mod.

Thats so funny, yesterday before I saw these specs I said to my brother, that even though everyone speculates wild changes to the C7 engine, that it would be a 6.2L with higher compression and 450hp. The corvette has always gotten great gas mileage so why change from the 6.2?
