I'm pretty disappointed with the numbers, especially for SE. Heck, even my 8 years old, 190 hp Mustang 3.8L is faster.

But... but... it's gotta "Hemi" in it! That can't be true! Weight IS the enemy to performance.

Dodge made a huge blunder with this car. Did they think they could compete in the pony car war on looks alone?

I've been saying from day 1 that LX is a wrong platform for a Challenger and that it will be too heavy to compare with Mustang.

They ALMOST could... that's a **** good-looking car. Only problem would be driving something that looks as aggressive and cool as the Challenger, and then not being able to beat minivans from a red light... lol

Well I always said that it would take a while before the new Challenger could beat the new mustangs and Edmunds proves that fact. Obviously Chrysler and GM are trying to play catch up with the new mustangs but in doing so have not done any serious planning with regard to engine performance. It would appear the S197 mustangs will be way ahead of Chrysler and GM for some time...way to go Ford!

With Chrysler in the financial doldrums it will be interesting to see if they have money to improve this product.

It's really sad that they didn't made it what they promised. They just made a heavily overweighted fashion mobile. It really pis$es me off.

meh, as long as the Mopar fans are happy. And there is always the aftermarket. Heard there may be a "Mr. Norm's" edition topped with a K-B S/C and some other goodies.

I really disagree with some of the opinions expressed here. First, this is Edmunds. The same source that got a best of 13.8 from the Bullitt Mustang, which incidently costs more than an R/T. Secondly, they never indicate which rear gear is in the car. The two choices are the 3.73 or 3.91 with the manual. I'll reserve judgement until there is more information to form an opinion on, but it's reasonable to conclude that the R/T has GT(ish) acceleration, and is priced competitively, so I see no rub. Particularly since it fills a slightly different niche of better touring car than the Mustang.

We all know the 4,050lb curb weight is heavy. The same indictment can be levied against the GT500 and Camaro. You cannot expect any manufacturer to provide you with an affordable lighter car given the existing sedan platforms they produce these cars from.
