im not usually a fan of dodges (post muscle car era) but i really love the way the new 2 door dodge stratus r/t looks. does anyone else see pony car potential in this...drop in the new hemi v8, convert it to rear wheel and throw a 5 speed in it, i think it would be kinda awesome.
the american market needs a new pony car, bringin back old names like gto, charger, (and possibley) camaro...or even chevelle or challenger could be a tricky thing to do, if the cars dont live up to theyre names hype they could be failures sales-wise (example the new GTO)
so what you guys think does the r/t stratus have pony car potential?

That thing's just a Mitsu Eclipse under the skin. It's highly unlikely they'd convert to RWD and drop a Hemi in it.

I think a pony car needs to have RWD.

I agree, a true pony car needs to have RWD,
Otherwise, the styling is kinda blah in my book to be considered a ponycar in my books.
This would be more along the lines of a personal coupe which would compete with the MonteCarlo

With prices of gas going up every day, Chrysler really shouldn't make another car with Hemi. I mean, there are bunch of SRT models, and other than Neon , all of them have terrible gas mileage (Crossfire, Ram, 300, Viper, Magnum, soon Charger).
Chrysler almost died back in early 1970s because of same reason. They kept building big engines and prices of gas kept going up. This time, there may not be Uncle Sam to save them like it did before.

I still mourn the loss of the Dodge Stealth and Mitsubishi 3000GT. The R/T - VR4 models were quite the cars, and I still think it's one of the best-looking cars around. I found a '92 Stealth R/T with only 20k miles on it last summer, still wish I'd bought it ... just can't bring myself to pay more than book for a used car.
That's the only way I'd buy a new Dodge, is if they brought the Stealth back. Update the body (a little, it still looks darn good), keep the AWD, bump the V6 displacement to 3.5, twin turbo, and 360hp and I'd be sold.
V8 in a Stratus ... oof. Torque steer anyone?

And i love the 3000GT's. There's actually one in my garage right now! lol
My uncle dropped it off after a little ride to Mexico. I guess he's gonna keep it here for a while. Gonna take pics of her when i get a chance. It's the best looking 3000 i've seen. it looks like this one:
