I can't decide if this is more or less ugly than the new Dodge Nitro.

Looks like a Scion and a Mini Cooper had a wild night.

Come on, do you want the same vehicles over and over again? It's different, not fugly - definitely a unique look and from the front end layout would guess cheaper manufacturing costs and lower price.

If they really wanted to ressurect an AMC name, the best ones to suit that car are Pacer or Gremlin

Something of that size would probably sell well up in Canada, and probably some urban areas in the states.

It does look a lot like the Scion. It's not horrible. Not something I would be interested in but I've seen far worse.

I was expecting worse myself. Not that bad, not my cup of tea either, though.

There's definitely a demand for that type of vehicle. D-C is smart to get into that market segment. Would be a good kids car. Easy on the gas and fun to drive. But I'm not in that segment!

They go the name wrong; instead of Hornet it should have been called Gremlin!

The problem is, you will find a lot of folks my age (mid 40's and up) will latch onto this car, it happened with Scion, this can cause "Bad Buzz" among the targeted audience.

Hope FoMoCo's upcoming entry level car can generate the interest cars like the Hornet have.

yea, we were looking at this on one of the big MINI sites, motoringfile.com .. there are some interesting comments there. Someone pointed out that companies like Ford are completely out of touch with the youth segment today, that they mostly buy japanese, and then develop brand loyalty toward japanese.

In that light, I hope we see a lot more radical, youth oriented concepts in the future, and I hope they see production. I don't mind the Xb, it's inexpensive, and cooler than a Focus IMO.

The Hornet does seem to draw from the MINI, in fact it seems the concept uses the same powerplant the current Cooper S uses (which is about to be replaced with a new Turbo engine)
