Disgruntled customer rams Miami showroom, torches dealership housing Ford GT

Upset With The Price For A New SUV. As Customers Watched, He Torched The Business. Eleven Cars Destroyed, Including Ford GT with Gulf Paint

"Yesterday, a North Miami man, apparently unhappy with the deal he received on a new Ford Escape the day prior, snapped after unsuccessfully going to the dealer to try and renegotiate. George Maretti subsequently rammed his SUV through the showroom's windows, whereupon he "calmly" doused his vehicle and the (occupied) dealership with an accelerant, lighting the place on fire. No injuries were reported, but a Ford GT in Gulf livery was among the 11 cars sustaining heavy damage. The insurance tab is being estimated at around one million dollars.

Metro Ford's disgruntled customer was later found by police walking down the street, allegedly yelling "Kill me, kill me," but he gave up without (further) incident. Subsequently charged with First Degree Arson and felony criminal mischief, he was later released on bond."

Obviously, he's just merely "misunderstood".

If he was unhappy with the deal, why did he accept it and take possession of the car??

Geez!!!!

Thank God no one was killed! I still just don't understand what possesses people to do these things. This guy needs to be either locked up in the slammer or sent to a maximum security mental institution.

Unfortunatley with the way our system tends to work they will deem him fit for society after a couple years just like Andrea Yates

Metro Ford is where I purchased my latest Mustang. I had no issues with them. Their sales people were very accommodating and I received a fair deal. They were very typical. If I don't like a deal, I simply walk away. This guy clearly had some problems of his own.

10% really isn't all that uncommon.

Another fine example of, "I'm not responsible for my own happiness! I'm a victim, and the world is responsible for any displeasure or offense I THINK I have have experienced."

Or he may have simply failed to take his meds. I do feel sorry for him; he has ruined whatever life he has.

Those Ford's didn't deserve that, especially the Ford GT(1 out of 250 Ford GT's with Gulf Paint)

I hope when I get my Shelby that whomever I am in line before to get the car doesn't try to take me out.

That is really sad about the guy. I hope if he had a family that they are somehow taken care of.
