In the latest Motor Trend, there is an article about the possibility of GM making a Corvette SS that would be slotted above the Z06 in the pecking order. It says a 600 hp LS7 V-8 is a possibility.

Even if they make it the Ford GT will still be top dog. The Ford GT is a supercar & that Corvette would still be Corvette.

Agreed. I think a supercar is defined more by pewrformance than by numbers in a production and the current C6 in stock form already puts up world class numbers.

I understand what u guys are saying but I would never consider a Corvette a supercar. If u say a supercar is more about performance numbers then would you consider the NISMO Skyline R34 GT-R Z-tune a supercar, I wouldn't. It produces 500 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, I'm not sure but from what I heard only 20 of them were made. It has both the performance numbers & the low production but I still wouldn't call the skyline a supercar. This car will take on any other car on Drag racing & Road racing, not even the Enzo could keep up. The Z-tune ran 0-400 meters in 10.06 seconds during development. http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/fe...5_scc_skyline/ Don't get me wrong, the Corvettes & the the Vipers are amazing cars, I think they are just below from being a supercar.

Interesting. I could think of better ways GM could spend the money, though.

sounds cool except i wouldnt want chevy to be top dog. what they need is a reborn F-body, like Zoran mentioned.
heck, they need to remake the chevelle. use the GTO/monaro platform and Chevyize it. fat grille, bow tie, new tailights/headlights add a cowl hood and voila, chevelle SS
and an LS2 wouldnt hurt either...
but GM is too smart too listen to someone like me, a person who will be in the market for a new car in around five or six years what do i know, im just a consumer

i don't think a mustang with 600 hp would be a super-car either... i guess my own image of super car has a lot to do with style, its gotta look exotic. The GT definitely does, the vette, a lot less so.

It might live up to the moniker of "SS".......Super Sports Car. Not a super car, I think they should be exotic too, it would be an outstanding car either way.

Supercar...sportscar...whatever. If it out performs the Ford GT it will be top dog. I think once the Zeta platform gets introduced we might see some other performance cars from GM in the states, hopefully.

It would be good for Chevy and the USA. I would not be calling it a POS either. Guaranteed! :flag2:

I thikn its a bad idea. The new Z06 has 500 hp!!!! It is almost a full on race car. How much further does Chevy want to go? If they were just selling it as a homologated race car I would understand but if they build a vette with over 600 hp it will barely be streetable.
Why doesnt GM wake up and build a Camaro/GTO/Trans Am worth buying?
