challenger to have 6.1 liter hemi in spring 08
i have reard recently form a reliable source that the new challenger will be out in spring o8 with two engines available to start. the v6 to be just under price of v6 stang and the hemi 6.1 liter 435hp v8 for the big motor which will be priced just under the gt convertible. now i love ford yall but for that hp at around 29 or 30k. i might have to jump ship. the next year model is to have the availble 6.4 hemi and also the 5.7 hemi which is being reworked to have 375 to 400 hp. all using mds also. why cant ford use mds such technology and up there hp also?. anyways just relaying what i heard.also the colors for 08 are to be blue orange and green.

well it is hard to believe and i admit it. i also dont know the trim on these models. but if that is price for base i will take base prob anyways cus i dont need that leather and such to go fast. never know what can happen it might just be bad info but i have looked at some other forums for challenger and alot are saying the same things.

May need all that HP just to drag the weight around
I have both a Mustang GT and a Charger. Don't jump to too many conclusions yet. Mustang handles better and is quicker. Seats are way more comfy. The Challenger is a slightly smaller Charger, but it will still likely be too heavy. It may need the 6.1 just to get out of it's own way.

If that were to be the case it'd be a great buy. The $29 - 30K mark seems a bit unrealistic. I would think the Challanger would be priced along the GT vert's $35K or the Mustang SEs' range.

And it'll still take all that horsepower to move that 2 ton pig
but seriously, I love the Challenger and all....and the engines will pump out some nice horsepower, but make an informed decision, or you with your logic, willl be crying like a lil ***** when the 2010 Mustang or Camaro comes out "why didn't I wait, its got 5 or 15 more horsepower, so it has to be a better car...why didn't I wait...why god...whyyyyyyyy"

Believe it when I see it. Seriously, I'm sick of the Camaro and Challenger rumors that keep saying "Oh it's gonna be_____ and ____ and the Mustang will just suck in comparison." There's not been any official word or even solid leaks regarding either car, meanwhile the Mustang you can actually BUY today. So lets leave it there until either of those situations changes.

I'm not buying any of that either. In fact, it's been reported before that the Challenger will get NO V6 engine at all, and be primarily a niche car, unlike the Mustang.
A V6-powered Challenger would be a waste of time anyway. All that lard it's packing around will need at least a V8 to hustle it down the motorway.
And I'll lay odds that the Camaro will be a vastly superior car dynamically. Smaller, more nimble...and based off GM's highly-regarded new global Zeta platform. It's the Camaro that will be giving Mustang owners the biggest headaches.

I'd say that's probably right. According to the boys on Allpar, (a Mopar website), that nice, slick looking concept weighs in at 4,160 lbs. The platform is shared with the 300 (300C-4160-lbs.), and the Charger (4031-lbs).
And don't expect the top-end performer in the Challenger stable to be in the 30's. I expect it will be priced more in line with the 300 SRT8, which fully loaded exceeds $47k.

I agree totally with you! Around here it's usually:
Camaro is coming and will destroy our puny Mustangs!
Challenger will destroy us with it's awesome super duper HEMI power!!
Curse you Ford! It's all Ford's fault for not making a 100,000 HP Mustang! What will we do now ??
Yet neither one of those cars is even on the market yet.

From EVERYTHING I have read and heard, there will not be a V6 Challenger, since the car will be so heavy, and the V6 won't be able to "cut the mustard". I just can't imagine this coming in a V6.

Needs to be more Astony
The 300 and charger both have V6 so its not that it couldn't work with a V6... but i think the real reason is from marketing standpoint it wouldn't sell due to it being more money then a v8 stang for a v6 challenger.
