You gotta love those guys. If you click on the GTI link, they say that even at $30,000 with options, the GTI is a bargin!!! Maybe at $24,000, but heck no, not at $30,000. I can name many other cars I would rather own at that price then the GTI. This just shoots their credibility all apart, to say this.
I for one just want to read the stories that accompany the 10 Best issue. The categories I read were VERY encouraging (i.e entertaining). Can't wait to get my issue in the mail.

Heck, for $1,000 more you can get Mustang GT.
I'm kinda surpised to see the GTI on there myself. While very nice the VW's sticker price is a bit of an eye opener to be kind. I also find the surprisingly pricey Fit to be a bit of a wonder-inducer as well....I can get a decently-equipped Civic for Fit money and given the obvious advantages the Civic provides I can't imagine why anybody outside of 5-door loyalist and the severely ecologically-geeked among us would do otherwise.
Also, if the Malibu is worthy I have to wonder how the Aura didn't make the list last year. That car is virtually identical to the Malibu mechanically with the only significant difference being that the 07 Aura came with a pushrod V6 in place of the 2.4L four the Malibu and 08 Aura pack under the hood. But since gas mileage was virtually identical and pricing was extremely close as well I have to wonder exactly what it was about the arguably better looking Aura that kept it from making the podium last year? Did Saturn getting snubbed because they aren't mainstream?
