Seriously? I can see Camaro garnering praise in several areas, but the interior is not one of them. Each to their own I suppose.

While I don't dislike the Camaro interior as much as some, I would hardly put rate it as the best "sports"(ing?) car. Interesting, perhaps, but interesting does not necessarily equate with good (look at all the "interesting" Bangle BMW designs). The horrible claustrophobia and sight lines alone would drop it way down my list. I would certainly rate the Stang as a significantly better interior though I wouldn't rate it quite tops either (better execution and materials if slightly generic). The Challenger is nice if bland and very derivative. Not sure what other "sports" cars fall under the categories $30K cap though. Volvo C-30 (very nice in a clean, spare Nordic sort of way)? Miata (nice and probably the most functional of the lot, if aging now).

Others???

I'd assume the Camaro excelled on the head to head limited visibility comp.

it makes me wonder what were the other competitors in the 'sports car' category for the camaro.

The interior alone stopped me from buying one. Sorry....not a bow-tie hater. Have had many great Chevys over the past 30 years.

Well played, sir.

Maybe that's what they were looking for? Something "futuristic" regardless of practicality.

Okay, I usually try and refrain from Camaro related stuff, but HOLY HELL! WTF IS GOING ON?

The interior of my friggin' '79 F-150 had more style, form and function than the Camaro.

from an artistic standpoint I think the camaros intoerior blows away the 2005 stang interior. Not in materials I hasten to say but in design (use of shapes and such).

I'd dare say it's one of the more interesting looking interiors on the market. The seats alone look fantastic. Note I'm not defending the materials or comfort just the design.

Guys, this prestigious award can really mean the difference between no-sale and SOLD SOLD SOLD! I can see the reviews now of a particularly stunningly interior-ed car:

"...in summary: This car is craptacular(tm) in just about every way. Anemic performance, ugly exterior, awful sightlines, humongous blind spots, atrocious color choices, torturous seating, coupled with the ergonomics of an elephant squeezed into a sardine can, terrible acoustics in both the sound system as well as road noise... but, even with all that going against the Vadelotinous 1.8J, you have to buy this $40,000 heap of ostrich droppings. I mean, seriously... would you just *LOOK* at that interior?! It totally makes up for the car's overall abortion of a design. Truly a work of art, it took the Ward's award for the Best Automotive Interior this year. *Recommend!*"

/I'll be here all week. Try the fish.
