Buick planning performance revival?
http://m.leftlanenews.com/buick-plan...e-revival.html
According to*Edmunds
, an inside source has revealed that GM is strongly considering reviving the Grand National, GNX and T-Type nameplates for the Buick brand. All three models would be based on the rear-wheel drive Alpha platform that underpins the*Cadillac
*ATS
.
The new Grand National and T-Type would essentially be the same vehicle, save for their color pallets. Keeping true to history, the Grand National would only be available in black while the T-Type would be offered with a variety of exterior colors.
At this point it remains unknown what engine might power the GN and T-Type. Buick's 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.6L V6 are certainly possibilities, but*Edmunds*suggests GM's long-rumored turbocharged 3.6L V6 could find its way under the hood of both the GN and T-Type. That turbocharged V6 should be good for 350-400 horsepower.
As for the top-dog GNX, GM is reportedly considering its latest LT1 V8 engine. No word on what kind of power the GNX might produce, but something north of the 400 horsepower mark sounds about right.
