Though I really never liked the guy (thanks to his less than flattering cable TV show), I still feel saddened for his loss. Hopefully Boyd's family will be able to recover from their unfortunate loss and keep Boyd's legacy alive...

Agreed. To me he came across as a bit of an *** on the show, but I wonder if that's how he really was. Anyway, his death is quite a shock...

Ditto from me too. His way of talking to employees via screaming and shouting made him lose good people (Charlie the painter, Mike the wheel guy). It is sad that he isn't here anymore. RIP Boyd!!

According to a news article I read this morning, Boyd was hospitalized after a fall about a month ago. A few days later he was re-admitted to the hospital after complaining about complications.During that visit he went in for some kind of emergency surgery. Nobody seems to know exactly what he was hospitalized for...

An unexpected loss to the Hot Rod/Custom Car world in which he had an
"interesting" role.

Hot rodders will miss him.
He did come off as a bit of a PR^!k on his show. But he also did alot for his guys. You don't become a millioniare by being a "nice Guy" most of the time!
Rest in Peace Boyd!

Sad to see a young man go, hopes and wishes to his family.

He had many more good car building years in him.

According to the information on Wikipedia, he died of liver failure. I don't know how accurate that is or where they got that info though.
