BMW M3 concept unveiled at Geneva

As already known, it will feature the 400 hp 4.0L V8 derived from the V10 available on the existing M5.
Too bad the exterior design is not as interesting as the current model M3.

Gott in himmel! Was ist das?
What a "face" and that da*n hood looks horrible! I suggest BMW cut a hole where that bulge is and install a shaker hoodscoop - good for a few more hp and better looks. Like killing 2 birds...

The side profile and rear quarter views are very reminiscent of the Infiniti G35. Other than the grill, it doesn't look very BMW-ish to me.

I think both the current AND this new one are gorgeous in every respect. They're just different. I need smelling salts though because I just checked the price.

$50gs just to get in the game, I believe I saw the base price of $50,735 or so. Not sure about options, I would think that there really shouldn't be many for that kind of money. I know there is a 6 or 7 speed paddle shifted gearbox option, just not sure what it adds.

I can't touch it.

I wouldn't worry too much. It's the tail-lights most Mustang drivers will be looking at anyway.

At that price, it better be the only thing most Mustang drivers see.

When discussing the GT500 this will only be true when the road gets twisty. And considering the large hp deficit and the genuinely huge disparity in torque I'd say that most of those curves better not be sweepers for that to hold true.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure this will make for a plenty fast track car. But 400hp and not much over 300lb-ft tq for 54k in a four seat GT??? BMW has gone beyond pushing it with their power ratings and is now heading straight for the realm of bringing a knife to a gun fight.

For the first time ever I find myself truly disappointed with BMW's M3. However fast SMG may make this thing accelerate it's going to have the power delivery characterisitics of a VTEC Honda four on steroids. Put more simply.....wanna go fast? Rev 'er til she screams because there is no other option.

I love a car with a high redline as much as the next guy, but I typically prefer cars which possess a balance between low end torque and high end hp. And since this is your only option if you want a tweaked factory 3 Series I just can't get too excited over it.

I wonder what the next AMG-massaged C Class is going to have under the hood?

I've driven neither, but am still confident in saying I would much prefer this car to a GT500.

The engine in the GT500 is superior to the M3, but everything else (excluding the objectivity of looks that is) on the M3 is superior. That you can bet on, especially at equivilent price points.
