Edmund's Inside Line has some interesting info regarding the upcoming Camaro (Chevelle?) concept car to be seen at the N.A. International Auto Show in January. In summary:
- Might be called the Chevelle rather than Camaro
- Will use the Vette motor (presumably the 400hp 6.0?)
- Will ride on a "Zeta Lite" platform

Didn't Chevy already kill the Chevelle name back in the late 70's early 80's with that little compact Escort thing?

I also would like to see how the competition in this segment plays out.

But a lil more competition should be interesting.

from wut I've heard the zeta platform has been killed. I've also heard the rumor of a chevelle coming back. so this supports that rumor. I was also reading somewhere on this forum the other day that all rear wheel drive cars(from GM) that are being designed are being put on hold. So it makes you wonder if they'll pull a monte carlo with this new car. I wouldn't think so. they do stupid stuff, but not that stupid. we'll have to wait and see. I still think chevy will royally screw this whole thing up. they have nobody who can designed vehicles. The new SUV's are butt ugly. in my opinion. I'm sure the new trucks for 07 will be along the same lines to. so butt ugly. I only like the Corvette. I can live with the colbalt also. It should be a seller for em.

Wasn't that the Nova?
I also would like to see how the competition in this segment plays out.

I think the Nova became the Citation.

My first new car was a 1970 SS350 Camaro and I have driven all the above mentioned cars. My parents had a Chevette ( we called it Shove It) and it was a POS, The Nova wasn't much better.
Given GM's recent track record, I have no hope for the new Camaro or whatever they choose to call it. After the GTO fiasco I don't think they'll get it right for many years and then it will be too late.
I hope I'm wrong but I don't think so.

What really sucks is that GM is planing to make 2007 GTO and Camaro very similar, so I won't be surprised if Camaro fail ... again.

If GM gets the Camaro right, and makes it direct compeitior for the Stang, it could potentially pull the company out of the crap they're in right now.
