Bad news on Marauder
Mercury to drop Marauder after '04 model year
By AMY WILSON | Automotive News
DETROIT - Mercury will drop the Marauder performance sedan after the 2004 model year. Production of the Marauder at the St. Thomas, Ontario, assembly plant will end in June, a Mercury spokesman said last week.
"We made a decision to concentrate our resources on the new launches," Mercury spokesman Todd Nissen said. Mercury will introduce the Montego sedan and Mariner sport wagon in September.
Mercury doesn't break out sales for the Marauder, which is part of the Grand Marquis family. The Marauder's base sticker is $34,945, including the destination charge.

i hate to hear that. The Marauder and the 05 Mustang GT are the only cars I am interested in. Last time I bought a sports car I had the same dilemma 1996 Z28 or Impala SS. I went with the Z28... kinda wish I had bought the Impala SS the resale on them seems very high compared to the Z28.
The Marauder had a great commercial for a short time. The one where it oozes around town and then scares the other cares around it in the parking garage was brillant. I was sad when I realized I hadn't seen it in awhile.
But there were alot of problems. Too little power, Interior looked too stock (except for the Mercury-Head seats), and after the convertible concept Ford seemed to just freeze the design and stop trying. I think they acould have done great things with it, but instead it got lost in the shuffle.

Ford had a lot of problems under Jacques Nasser. Need I say more? The Marauder was one of many. Blackwood as well. T-Bird as well. Marketing flops ...

your key target with these luxo-pickups is the "rappers" you get enough of them to buy your truck, then you build a name for yourself. Once they start singing about their rides, the fans too will try and imitate them. Hence why the Escalde and Navigator are reeaaaally popular among the rap and ghetto pimp scenes. its what keep the sales going. So Ford needs to find a way to make this truck appeal to that key group.

another thing to keep in mind is a stock 260HP '96 SS was still faster than the 302HP maurader.

I can tell you that the SS does not have a 0-60 time that low. It's more like 7.5 seconds. The Marauder, I believe, comes stock with 3.55 gears. I can't be certain this late, though...
But, if the Marauder is to your liking, pick one up for cheap and take it to Dennis Reinhart... This Marauder now runs 10's on pump gas, with 575 rwhp:
