Autoweek reports BMW 1 series has 300HP
I'd love to take a spin in this little beast! Sounds like a fun car. Wouldn't want to own it past the warranty time (we all know how expensive BMW's are to fix out of warranty).
unless you fix them yourself. anywho, yeah that car looks cool. i guess its an e47 3 series lol
Looks pretty cool and with each new model, the Banglized styling themes actually are evolving to something that actually looks good rather than, um, interesting. The rear end has some obligatory goofy aspect -- Hyundai designers must feel a bit plagerized -- but overall, its a nice looking notchback coupe.
The return to a relatively smaller, lighter, simpler, more basic Bimmer reflecting the spirit of the legendary 2002 is a great idea IMO. If they keep the price reasonable (huge if there) and not bloat it out too, this could be a real winner.
The 135i 300hp TT motor is a real powerhouse -- as long as you keep it cool apparently -- and if they keep the weight in check too, it could be a real pocket rocket. Now if they pop in the current M3's screaming 333hp S54 motor in a raw, stripped down M model, they'd really have a winner.

Well they're going for the off-beat, funky feel of the 2002 with a modern look. Its appealing in a more unique way than, say, the flawles Astons. I don't think it's perfect, but this, the mMZ3, and the Z8 are the only BMWs I would ever want to own.
With a 4yr/50K warranty which includes everything from oil changes to all wear items (brake pads and rotors, windshield wipers, etc.), it would be tough to pass that up. Chances are, you would want something different after 4 years anyway.
I would guess the price of a 135i would be in the low 30's, much more than that and they'd just be overlapping the Three Series too much. I'd guess mid to upper 20's for the 128 (or whatever they call the base 3.0 version) and low 30's for the 135 -- base prices, with options adding, well, however many options you add.
Remember, this is supposed to be an entry-level (relatively speaking) BMW, somewhat in the vein of the 2002, and if they go anything beyond this, then its sort of "what's the point, I'll get a full-blown 3-Series for another couple grand."
Perhaps if they put the raucous S54 (M3) motor in an M1(M2?) version, stipped down and sported up, then you could see a price in the mid 30s. Granted, the 335i and M3 have very similar straight line numbers, they do have very different personalities and the quasi-race S54 motor would be more a complement to a hard-edged M1/M2 (as distinct from the more plushed out E92 M3) than the more civilized 135 motor. Or at least in Europe, perhaps such subtleties of character would be lost in the US.
